Heavier servo spring for Savage?

The servo saver in the Sav seems pretty loose. I cranked down the spring preload on the SS nearly all the way, but it is still a bit sloppy with 300oz servos and 40 series tires. Anymore and I'm worried it won't have enough travel to move in a crash.

Is there a heavier duty spring out there for the Sav? This is supposed to be the HD one from HPI. I thought I saw an aftermarket one somewhere once, but now I can't find it. Perhaps a spring from a truggy SS would work?

Possibly the Hellfire or a Lightning Stadium Pro ?

The Ofna Monster Pirate one seems a bit heavier, I've seen somebody else run it and they swore it worked better. I'm just going to replace the spring with a solid tube to lock it. Between strong servos and the give of the stock suspension components, I think it will be safe. If worse comes to worst, I'll run a Kimbrough HD on the servo.

The spring the Flux is the standard servo spring. There is an HD one from HPI thats been out for awhile and they recommend it if you upgrade the servo

I've been using a dual servo saver setup for a week or so now. It is an improvement. I was having the same issues with the Masher 40s and Hitec 5995 or 98 servo. Had the spring fully compress at one point. Tried some heavier servo springs I had from other setups. When I first got the XL I bought the bearings for the bellcrank, then an Integy bellcrank setup to try and correct the slop. I just recently combined the Integy servo saver with the stock servo saver on the bell crank. Made some improvement. I need to correct it though. The stock servo saver part insn't connected to the drag bar very well. I found an XTM Mamoth bellcrank on ebay for .99 plus shipping. It was setup for two servos and has two servo savers on each side of the bell crank. I did a little dremel works and got it ready to install. I got some pics of it I will post of later. When I did the two servo saver mod to my FLM Maxx it made a huge improvement in it's steering setup. You might need 4 of them Finnster.

Should have the tiime to get it installed this weekend. The motivation is a different story.

I said earlier it was a XTM Mammoth bellcrank but that is incorrect. It will fit one. The part is from the XTM Monster MT truck.

I had to replace the HPI 13t bevel pinion (Cen parts on the way) in the Savage X SS so while I had it open I put the dual XTM in it instead of the XL. I added a couple 5x10 bearings for spacers on the post next to the skidplate. I also ended up cutting away a lot of the second servo savers connecting arm (the one that connect to the servo) so they wouldn't catch on each other. The only other thing to consider if you select a setup to try this with is the length of arms that connects to the drag link. I didn't even think about it until I got this installed. Fortunatly the XTM arms were short enough and it fits with a little room to spare. It could of all been for nothing had they been a mm or two longer causing the drag link touch the bulkhead. Anyways only got to take it out and test if a for a little bit and it has made an improvement on my setup. I got another one off ebay yesterday for a dollar plus shipping. I am going to do it to the XL also. It has the heavier tires and hi torque servo installed on it so I am guessing the improvement it makes on it will be more noticable for me.

Here's some shots of it installed on a Savage X SS.

Well turns out HPI was ahead of the game and knew the SS spring was weak.

They have a HD spring out now. >$4

I'll have to pick a couple up.
