BL crt.5 run hot.

Hi guys, i am done converted crt.5 to run BL and below was the setup. But after 3min run, the motor started run hot which as below

after 3min
motor-160F:cry::cry:
esc-142F
3s Lipo-110F

my setup
esc-MM with fan
motor-Feigao 2731kv with heatsink and fan
Lipo-Flightmax 3s 5000mAh 30C
mod1 pinion-16T

Do you all feel that I should lower down the pinion to 13 or 14T so that the motor will run cooler? Thanks.

Check your motor wire connections. I'm betting on a poor connection somewhere. If it's an internal winding you may need a repair or a new motor. Sucks, but that's feigao motors for you .

It's either a bad connection somewhere, a bad motor, or you have some binding in your drivetrain.

hands down it is a connection or faulty motor.

1st your lipo should not get that hot. Motor temps i always say keep under 150 to be safe.

Esc i like at 125 or less.

But that setup should not run hot any way you look at it.

Hi guys, i having new problem on my MM esc. Ok, as you all know my motor is running hot and i went to bought another cooling fan which speed at 14000rpm and fix on the motor heatsink and wanted to try do the motor temp able to drop or not. Yesterday I try up to run on my backyatch and found the steering servo hardly move and found maybe the high speed fan draw more current from the rx and I parallel 2 fans together and get the voltage from rx and I can see when I fully turn the wheel and hold it, the cooling fan will slow down the speed, may I know how to slove this problem?

Another problem is, with above problem i still able to bashing around but ~1-2min, the motor stop running and I can see MM red or orange (sorry, dont know what the colour)LED is blinking. I have to switch off the esc and turn it on back and then I able to bash around again but in ~1-2min the problem came back again. I need help on this.

Oh ya, i also set the punch setting from 80% to 30%. Before I can bash till the Lipo juice finish :) Please advice. Thanks.

Running a faulty motor WILL eventually kill the ESC and lipos if you aren't careful. If the motor is partially demagnetized, or other issue, it will pull increased current but this current will just be dissipated as heat. Also, this additional current will burn something out. Even if the ESC survives this abuse, it will definitely have a shortened life. Adding fans to deal with the heat is not the right solution, it just masks the real problem.

To truly fix the problem, you will need to find out the actual problem and replace that part. Otherwise, you will end up replacing everything.

Hi Brian, 1st thanks for your advice and reply. I am new on BL and may I know how to check the motor is in good or bad condition? Thanks again.

make sure your motor screws arent too long and contacting the windings in the can... that would cause a direct short and explain your problems completely. But thats a solid 3s setup you have for that thing and you shouldnt have any problems at all... once you figure out your problem.
