I just got a 2s 1800mah thunder power lipo that dont want to take full charge it only take about 800mah on it and it dont balance good..

Have you tried charging the low cell individually? What charger do you use?

Jason 11.16.2009 08:45 PM

im using a hyperion charger how do I can only charge one cell separated ?

You have to do it through the balance plug. Which means making a harness to connect that cell to the main output of the charger. So you use the built-in balancer, right? Have you run it through a stand alone balance cycle yet? Is this a new battery? It might have been shipped with a low cell (strange for TP) and the charger terminates prematurely because the other cell is too high.

yes im using the built in balancer

I tried it on my e-station bantam PB6 charger and only 1 led flash ( 1 cell )

Well I suppose you could have a bad cell. Is this a new battery, or does it have any warranty on it?

Jason 11.16.2009 09:06 PM

no used no warranty :sarcastic:

If you just bought it, I would ask [them] if they knew it had a bad cell...

To charge an individual cell, there are several options. Here is a couple I use:

This one requires you to build a little "break-out" board. Probably more than you want to do, but it does come in handy.

The next one is far simpler. Just take any high value resistor (I use 1Mohm) and put the leads into the balance plug for the cell you want to charge/discharge. Then, just clip your charge leads to each side of the resistor. This works well because the resistor body helps keep the leads from shorting. But you still have to be really careful.

+1 to that resistor idea...

ok it now balance ok but still dont take all the mah is specified ... only take about 1050mah on 1800mah @ 6v cut off so one cell was overdischarged right ? I dont want to ship this pack to the previous ownedr he live in usa and I live in canada I dont really care too much just want to be sure if is shot or not

I opened up the pack right now and discovered the balance orange wire look like disconnected/cut maybe is for what I dont get the full mah on my pack ?

Possible, might be that only one cell is getting properly charged. I would inspect that damaged wire more closely and repair/ replace / splice it as required, then check the cell voltages and charge it up again.
