Budget Ofna Hyper 10 SC build from Hyper Mini STe

It's been a while since my Mini Hyper STe has seen any action so I figured this would be a good opportunity to create a decent 4x4 short course truck! Many probably remember my Pro-4 build with a solid rear axle and independent front suspension (still need to post up pics of the latest chassis revision...), but this time I want something that will handle "properly".

If I truly wanted to turn my STe into a full-on 10 SC it would cost at least as much as the 10 SC truck itself. So here's the plan:

-custom chassis, with similar dimensions to the Hyper 10 SC's chassis
-Slash nerf bars on custom mounts
-reuse all components off the Mini STe's chassis except for the center-rear driveshaft
-Proline Slash rear 2.2 beadlocks (already acquired a few weeks ago)
-Proline Hardcore body (also acquired previously)
-cut apart center-rear driveshaft from Mini STe and use tubing to make one of the proper length for the 10 SC

What is on the way:
-Ofna 21121 front shock tower
-Ofna 21122 rear shock tower
-Ofna 21124 body post set
-Ofna 21125 front bumper set
-Ofna 21126 rear bumper set
-2 sets of Ofna Mutilator front shocks

So for a bit over $100 plus a few custom pieces you too could have a pretty cool Hyper 10 SC! However, it's still lacking the proper nerf bars, driveshafts, roll bar, and chassis braces but it should still work well enough :yipi:

I hate to say this, but by the time you figure out tires/wheels/body and the other goodies it's so not worth the effort. Keep the parts you have breakage.. and get the new unit.. prices will drop 20-40 bucks pretty quick.. or just use a coupon at amain.

The parts have already shipped and will be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Body/wheels/tires are already done. Not sure I want to spend the money on a new kit, I've got other priorities where that money can go (1:1 car). Only doing this since I have a Hyper Mini ST that's been collecting dust.

looking forward to some pics of your project.

Sometimes money does not matter when one gets an idea in their head...
