didnt think it was possible.... but i broke mikes motor mount.
well after getting back into rc i went to the local track today and was messing around... truck was doing amazing when i saw two double jumps i wanted to make into a huge quad jump....
well i hit it the first time and came up a bit short... to make a long story short i tried about 7 times and never really got the landing just right.... once i got home i took the top off my truck and see that my motor is hanging at an akward angle... i ended up snapping 2 of the 3 motor mount screws inside there holes:surprised:.. its the first model of the revo mount i bought years ago...... will get pics up soon but the wife has the camera. |
I think correct wording would be you broke the screws and not Mike's mount, because unless I missed something the mount itself is still in tact.
Where you using stainless screws? If so that is a mistake. 12.9 steel is the best bet on RC's especially on the motor mount. |
yea the mount is intact but its usless now =( the screws broke at about 1/2 ways into the hole and really roughed up the threads coming out

I think he should just use a sawzall and cut it in half and get that screw out. Then epoxy it back together.
(Please don't do that, that's a joke... Refer to the lug nut bolt thread) And yeah, retap it for a larger screw! |
not sure if i can tho.. i dont think that theres enough material around the holes to have a strong retap... guess i can always try

but yea, either get a ezout? are they called? or drill it out. then tap it for a bigger bolt (itll be stronger anyways) |
pics! and next time you're trying a double double vid!:yes:

I say save yourself a lot of time/effort/trouble and buy a new one. Consider it a lesson learned.
