CCNeu 2650: Will it work in E-Revo?

I have a castle Neu 2650 kv motor here and I want to put it in an e-revo(upgradng the brushed version). With stock sized revo wheels and/or truggy wheels(using 17mm adaptors), will this motor work? Has anybody tried this combination? If so, how does it run? what speed do you have it geared for and what re temps like?

Pretty sure hes running those huge Geode wheels and tires off the summit- they are 7.1in tall without ballooning..

Are you insane? 2650 in an E-Revo with Summit tires? That's just asking for high temps and a fried motor. I personally wouldn't even run the 2200Kv CCNeu with that. I ran a Medusa 36-80 2200Kv in my E-Maxx on 4S, and my Maxx weighs about 12.5 pounds RTR. It worked, but not very well. Had high temps, not a hell of alot of power, and it eventually catastrophically grenaded (shaft broke, tore the motor can in two places). Running that 2650 in an E-Revo with Summit tires is probably going to turn the motor into a fancy paperweight.

It should work fine, but............it all depends on gearing.

Let temperatures be your guide.

Gear it for about 40mph. If your temps are too high, then gear it down.

If your temps are running low, then you have head room to gear up some more if you want.

yeah. no motor that can fit in the revo will be able to push that when it is geared for 65 mph. Those are just the wrong tires for the truck, period.

brushlessboy16 12.25.2009 10:02 PM

And its the wrong motor for what he wants to do with it. Period.

to clear this up, my cousin has a 2650kv motor in his revo, and then he put summit tires on it, and did not change the gearing. speed controller died in 2 minutes flat. He is under the impression that the motor is his problem, and that it is not enough to power that truck under any circumstances

Why dont you tell him to get a feigao S can then. I would work- doesnt mean its right...

your posts make no sense. this is about a CCNeu 2650, and an e-revo with stock/truggy wheels, not a fiegao s with summit tires

This is correct. I ran a Medusa 60-2000 for months waiting for the MMM motor, and had no problems, in my E-revo. I would run it 45 on 4s, or 50 on 5s, with all sorts of tires. It's a smaller motor then the 2650.

If there was a problem with the 80, in that, with any tires, it was a bad motor from the beginning.

I would say that the motor would work if he was geared for about 30MPH no matter what tires as long as the gearing is appropriate I think 30 shouldn't be to hard on the motor or esc. Frying the esc in 2 minutes is def not because the motor, it's cause that setup is drawing tons of amps with those massive tires and high gearing

The 2650 will work just fine in a E-Revo if he gears it properly, but with those tires he'll have to watch temps closely. People ran L can Feigaos in E-Maxxes long before the E-Revo ever came out, they just didn't gear it for 100 MPH with 10 inch tires on it.

Krawlin: There was something wrong with your setup. I ran an 80mm Medusa in my Muggy with 40 series tires and over-geared (I don't remember what it was geared for on 4s, but on 6s with tire ballooning it was around 90) and the motor handled it just fine for over a year before I swapped it out for a 1717. I still have the 80mm and it still works like new and will be going into a boat soon.
