Surefire .32 pull start uncoiling while driving?

I'm a brushless guy, but my cousin is a nitro guy. He bought a Losi LST2 with a Surefire .32 motor in it. Now, everytime he tries to drive it, his pull start unravels.

Any idea what would be the cause?

bad one way bearing or the spring came loose

Even if the engine is new?

yep, even if new. All it consists of is a spool of cord, a coil spring and a one way bearing. It sounds like the one way is dragging, or the spring is weak, or something is gummed up and dragging. Take great caution when removing the recoil so the spring doesn't fall out, or you are screwed.

Sounds like a good time to upgrade to roto-start.

BTW: surefire and axial .32's are identical internally. I saved $20 buying a piston and sleeve for my surefire by buying an axial unit.
