Runtime.....question using 4s?

Hey guys I need to be able to make a 20min main with my buggy. I just started running buggy a few races ago, but all the races are 10min or less. I need to run 20mins now in the Pro class this upcoming year a few times. I currently run a MBX6E with the MMM 2200 setup. I run 4S 5000mah zippy setup and easy to do 10mins...but not sure how long it will go. I think I may try the new zippy 4S 5800mah and see if that will make 20mins. You guys think its possible?? What 4S setups are some of you running making 20mins??

How much do the pack take back when recharging after the 10 min race?

My 8ight/Tekin 1900 gets 28 min on a 4s 5000 mAh pack on an indoor clay track. During a 15 minute main w/ practice laps, i used a 4000 mAh pack which took back less than 3000 mAh after the main.

With the same setup on a large outdoor dirt track, i get 19 minutes of runtime with a 4s 5000 mAh pack. During two 30 minute mains w/ one battery change the 5000 mAh packs took a combined 6200 mAh each time with 1st and 2nd place finishes.

Your motor choice will really make a difference. Before I ever raced I used to run the 2650 and it would drain batteries in 2/3 the time just doing practice laps.

I don't think you'll make 20 mins on that setup. I'm running the same setup with turnigy 4s 5000mah batts and get around 16 mins. I also don't think the extra 800mah from the 5800 batts are going to make enough of an improvement. You may have to look at a lower kv motor. Have a look at how much mah the batt takes after a 10 min race, and then you'll be able to work out how much more mah you need to get 20min.

I can make 15 minutes on a big open track on 5000mah.. you should charge up your pack and run a certain number of minutes to calculate your milliamp usage so you know exactly how much battery you need

Your usage is going to depend alot on the track, your gearing, and your trigger finger! In my truggy, bigger Nd heavier vehicle, running 5s 4500mah I can easily do a 15 minute main with a decent finish and geared for about 35 which was still enough to pull away from the big Novarossi motors. if I pushed hard and drove like a maniac I would be dead in about 12 minutes though. In my old revo I did 17 min on a 5s setup and only used about 3800 mah and managed a second place finish in the pro series race.

Here is the track.....need to make 20mins on it with a buggy....minimum. Track is fairly open and fast and long.
