Summit ESC/Motor/Batt Combo Help
 

hi all

got a Summit on the way that i'll be using as a sensor carrying/FPV platform. been doing a LOT of studying and am still somewhat confused as far as picking a batt/mtr/ESC combo. probably unlike most, i am not looking to increase performance or speed, but rather to increase run time. as such i am planning for a brushless setup. so here's my desired criteria...

* 1+ hour run time
* performance equal to or slightly less than stock
* good quality, efficient components
* ~12v power supply (11+ is fine)

this rig will not be super abused, so i'm wondering if LiPo is ok?

if so, i'm thinking 2 x 11.1 3S packs wired in parallel. does anyone have a particular preference in batteries? i've used quite allot of ThunderTiger and Kokam cells before and have had little problems (in heli's).

i have an idea of which motors are decent, but don't know which are really efficient. i also don't know what kv i need to match the stock Titan 775, but i'm thinking around 2000 since a little less power is ok?

i'd like the ESC to be waterproof, or at least able to be made waterproof. i don't really know which is are the most efficient ESC's. LRP, Tekin and Mamba appear to be good, but i don't know for sure. it seems that an ESC may be more efficient if it is built with a particular battery in mind, such as being optimized for 3S packs. is this so?

As for a waterproof esc, that's something you will have to do with some plasti dip, not hard to do and since your not planning on pushing It hard heat build up shouldn't be an issue. If your going to be doing a lot of slow speed maneuvering the Tekin RX8 would most likely be the best bet with it's hybrid sensor system. For batteries, if your not going to push this hard than just about any lipo will get the job done but for 1 hr runtimes your going to need 8000+ mah packs even wired in parralell, at least that's gonna be my estimate.

the run time is a big factor - when the Summit gets here i'll have to measure the batt compartments and see what i can fit in them. thanks for your reply!

I have gotten up around the 45 minutes with 8000 pack.
I can say this.
Your arm gets tired of holding it in a bent position so much.
Depends on the kind of driving you are going to do will determine how hard it will be to get 1 hr.
