Guys...looking at an LST2 and need some advice
Looking at this one as a roller..thoughts http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...onversion.html
Last price is $ 225 as a rolle w/servos...good/bad I am intrigued by these and possibly want to get another monster truck...something that I have not owned before. What are the pros/cons of these. |
anyone have any thoughts?

Well, a lot of us here would say the LST2 is the best MT (myself included), so go for it!
|
From the factory set up, what needs to be upgraded to be BL ready for 5s? I am not looking to upgrade a lot of parts to make it BL ready again...Revo or a Maxx for example..been there done that.
|
The only thing I did on mine was instal the foreward cconversion in the trans. I haven't had any problems at all. I'm running a MMM 2200 on 6s.

LST2/XXL have zero CONS
FOC trans is needed to have Reverse w/ESC The Best MT Ever ! |
the only con to the lst2 has to be the steering setup, but thats easly fixed by modding in a muggy steering set up

Quick question on the LST2, does it use standard hardware or metric? Thanks in advance.

The lst uses "mainly" std hardware, but also uses metric hardware on the cdv setscews as well as the hex pin setscrews, 2.5mm. You can swap out most of the hardware to m3 thread without doing any mods.
The lst2 is the desireable model, due to the really stout arms, cvds and hubs. Only upgrade I do to the suspension is to use new era al front knuckles, and shim everything. As far as tranny, do the FOC, use a tdr single speed hub and motor mount and you will be set. Diffs are usually shimmed great from the factory, but I check all of them as they are super easy to get to. I like the plastic body shocks from the aftershock as they are considerably lighter. I did do the muggy steering mod, I have not run it yet, but it is pretty easy to do. The stock servo savers can be beefed up a bit and work pretty well stock from my experience. 225 seems a bit high, unless the truck is in very lightly used shape. I have bought them for 150 or less (got my muggy for 100 even). Those were used rollers. |
thanks for the tips guys...may keep looking for a better deal

I looked at the pics and description.
It has muggy length shocks shafts and muggy towers. This does lower the chassis clearance and the cg. Not sure if you want that? It has the Tin Coated gears and rpm cover. Not bad but the cover will not be used with the tdr mount unless you mod it. It has rpm arms, which are a big plus, as well as having lundsford links, and the gpm bellcranks. All good stuff that will cost a bit if you buy it new. By the looks of it you will need to strip it down and clean it completely when you get it. I would offer him 175 shipped. Tell him you will clean it, but you want all of his spares. 6 pages and no sale, his price is too high. |
Also noticed it has the foc in the tranny, that is something else you would want for a conversion. I am going to lowball him at 150 shipped, make him a better off and I am sure he will take it. I do not want it, just going to make your offer look better!
