Center Differential Motor Mount Thread

They seem to be very popular. and if you want one- I might become your best friend... I have one that was installed on a buggy- but easily modified to fit on any other vehicle (Im actually using it on my savage). This design can fit up to a 51t spur gear without modification-aside from clearancing whatever plate it is mounted on.

I plan on mimicking this mount (after I get the approval from rc-monster mike). I will be using 1/4in 7075 aluminum stock and a cnc mill. By the final design expect to see more pockets for recessing and weight reduction. maybe even a unit to house larger spur gears... we will see.

Here is the mount that i have in my shop

Here are some of my original CAD design- updated one coming soon

Not bad. Let me know when you are ready to produce some - I might be able to use one for my LST conversion.

What center diff was it modeled for?

My mount will be adjustable- for a range of diffs. the current one is setup for larger diffs like the savage(shown) and the ofna diffs. the new design will accomodate the smaller losi style diffs.

I love it:intello: How much clearance does it need underneath with a 51 spur ?

I'm in the process of making a backyard(ghetto) mount for my lst2 but of course it's not as swish as that.

Very nice work man... I'm sure your designs will be well received by many of the members here... The FLM Maxx and Gorillamaxx guys are going to be watching this closely..

Keep up us updated

probably about 2-3mm- i have a losi 50t on there now and it contacts the plate that its mounted on- needs about 1mm to rotate free

That would be great for bashers, but for serious driving COG raises too much.
This is something that i would have needed for my Hyper ST Pro conversion.

I was thinking the same thing last night. BB - depending on what software program you are using, you might be able to paramaterize the motor mount portion (positioned sketch or something) to allow individuals to specify an angle to have the motor sit at..straight up like you have it would be zero degrees, rotated to the left would be a negative angle, to the right, a positive.

If your worried about COG- get one of mikes standard mounts. this is not made to be low COG- I have raced a buggy with this mount- the car is much more balanced- kind of counteracted the higher COG..

if you want your motor on the side- get an rcm mount- I guess you could clock it... Now you have me thinking- I need to look into it now:intello:

make sure to make a recess in the top in order to get a hex into the pinion

already have that. need to mill a portion in so that the shank of the pinion will slide in- I know Im having a tough time getting pinions to fit on my 2200(shortened shaft)

As for clocking the motor- your limited to about 30degrees each way- or i would need to make a custom top plate for 45 degree mounting.

My idea now is tho have the actually motor plate clockable- 10 degree increments or so.. but making a devoted 45 degree mount is more practical and would cut down on machining time and less waste material...

I know you've seen it, but it already has the bugs all worked out. Has the slot for pinion screw access, bottom plate has raised portion to fit up to 51t spurs. Dead sexy. A little beefier. I've got mine right here in front of me if you want any dimensions. I just sold it for $300:whistle:

i got offers of 300 for mine.. gonna limit production to 30-40 units max so mike can still make money when he releases them- going to be limited edition :)
