Novak HV6.5 motor with Tekin RX8

Would this setup work? I'm a little worried that the D2 drive which swicthes to sensorless at high speeds, would this burn out the Novak motor?

Cheers

whitrzac 01.06.2010 02:31 PM

it will work fine:yes:

I would actually think that it should work better than a pure sensored setup. The sensorless mode is constantly adjusting for the best motor performance and only uses the sensors for a consistent start up.

You should have no problems.

Alright thanks

How about one of these motors on a Velineon ESC and plugged into the sensor port. Will it be ok??

We are combo-ing our Havoc Pro controller with the Hv Pro motor (4.5 I think) for one of our customers for use in a short course RTR on 2S.

Ofna/Jammin, right?

Hmm, I may have to look into a HV 4.5 on my MMP for my Slash 4x4. I was thinking the HV 6.5 on 3S, but if the HV 4.5 runs well on 2S, I have more of those batts than I do 3S.

HV 4.5= Wicked @$$ motor I had one in a jato and e-maxx...

on 2s its close to a 10.5/9.5 in top end, but it has alot more torque, on 4s it sounds like a Fing jet engine:whistle:

Will the VXL ESC control the 4.5HV motor ok??? And can I plug in the sensor to the sensor port of the VXL ESC?? I want to use this on a Hyper Mini STe.

Thanks

I don't think so, mabey if the VXL had a fan on it, but it would only work good on a 2s then...

Whitrzac...Thanks

Maybe I should have stated that I will be running 2S with the VXL. I do have the fan but they say that there is no motor limit on this speed control just it has a limit of 3S.

I was wondering about the sensor being plugged in, due to the fact that I heard somewhere that there could/have been issues with this and was wondering if anyone has any first hand accounts on this.

Thanks

Why don't you go to the horse's mount and call Traxxas and ask them?

We have had comments about the Ballistic sensor harness so we prepared this tech update:

Ballistic Sensor Harness Removal
Updated: 1.12.10

In order to ensure that the replaceable sensor harness doesn’t easily
fall out of the Ballistic motor accidentally, the end bell was designed
to snuggly grasp the end of the sensor harness in its connector.

As such, removal of the harness requires special attention so as to not
damage the harness itself.

1. It is advised to note the timing setting on the motor.
2. Using a 1.5 mm wrench, loosen the three flat head screws holding the
end cap and sensor assembly in place.
3. Once loosened, grasp the sensor harness as close to the connector as
possible.
4. Gently “walk” the sensor harness connector out of the motor’s
connector by wiggling the connector side to side.
a. NOTE: You may need to pull up slightly on the harness as there is a
small lip on the endbell that may impede the removal of the sensor
harness connector in certain circumstances.
5. Once the harness is removed, it can easily be replaced at this point.
6. Next, re-tighten the three 1.5 mm screws in the end cap, ensuring
that the timing setting is set to where it was noted before the sensor
harness removal process was begun.

I have an HV4.5 w/MMPro in my SCRT10 and a Ballistic 8.5 w/MMPro in my Slash4x4PE, both on 2S. The HV4.5 works so much better, I'm currently trying to find another HV4.5 to put in my Slash! Perfect motor for 2S 4WD SCT!

It's ironic the HV motor never really worked well on 4S in heavy trucks and was discontinued, and now is the BEST solution on 2S in lighter SCT's and you can't find them!
