What the difference between the flux and the monster

Sorry I don't have time to research this. I am getting ready to head out the door to make a deal. The guy is wanting a flux speed controller and motor and I was under the impression it is the same as a castle mamba monstor 2200kv setup or a traxxas/castle brushless 2200kv setup. Are there any difference except for the stickes?

Thanks for the help.

Systems are the exact same thing other then the Revo has different casing on the MMM and heatsink on the motor. Both can be programmed using the Castlelink

Thanks. I just talked to him and well meet tomorrow for the trade. Got some time to look now. On paper they look the same as far as the specs go. I have the castle creations 2200kv setup and the traxxas E-revo brushless edition setup. They are the same except for the motor color and casings.

Is the motor mounting holes different on the flux motor or is the motor mount different? Remember reading something about that?

That I don't know other then the Flux uses a clamp style mount for the motor

From what I can see, the esc casing is the same size on the Revo as the Flux and MMM. The Revo has a seperate clamp to hold it down A MUST have if none you have gotten them for your MMM's, and Flux's (which I have on my flux, the revo, the emaxx, and the 8T).

If he's putting it in a Flux, he wont be using the mounting holes - and wont be able to use anything with fins.

I bought a flux motor for my brother in law, and if I remember correctly, the mounting screws are smaller than the Castle ones - but I could be remembering wrong.

What are you getting from him? New toy?

skellyo 01.08.2010 09:49 PM

The Flux ESC and MMM are the same aside from the sticker and the presoldered series Deans connector. The motors are the same aside from the heatsink.

Yeah New Toy!!! I had a trade made a while back and I was a new 5b owner for a few hours. The fellow rolled on me and I was left standing at the alter all dressed up and broken hearted. Been on a mission since then to get one. The fellow called and said he was goinig in late to works. So I ran out and picked it up just a little bit ago. What the first thing you do when you get a new rc? Take more pictures of it in one session then you have pictures of your children in 18 years. lol I am excited. It's brand new. He put the kit together I am just adding a throttle servo and linkage to it.

I don't know what he was wanting to put a flux in. Looked like a t-maxx in the corner. He just got done with a scale crawler. Did a real nice job on it. I need to get the other tires for this tomorrow and was going to show him my Savage XL conversion. He might be interested in it.

JThiessen 01.08.2010 11:36 PM

I thought that maybe that was what you were getting. Very nice.

You didn't get that straight across for the MMM/Castle, did you???

Is it a full set of tires/rims that your getting? If so, I got dib's on the ones your not using!!!!

Gee 01.09.2010 12:04 AM

I could of tried the straight across. I got the Traxxas Castle Mamba Maxx that tower has listed for 510.00 all by itself for some reason. Just getting the other rear tires. These are paddles and no snow yet.

JThiessen 01.09.2010 12:42 AM

All ya gotta do is drive 40 miles east buddy boy. Lots of snow on the other side of 4th of July.

So I gotta ask - have you ever been nabbed for going over 65 through Spokane (60mph "Strictly enforced)? I went through at 70 both ways over X-mas.

Freezebyte 01.09.2010 12:44 AM

I nearly did, and I won't take that chance again. The washington cops are some of the most unflexible in the country

You shoulda seen all the MT HP's out collecting double time X-Mas day! We counted 22 of them. Normally I see one just east of Missoula, maybe one by Bozo, and one in Glendive. Didn't see a single one in WA or ID (good thing too, I woulda been busted) - made record time though, 15 hours Edmonds WA to Lambert MT (1140 miles). Would've been almost an hour less, but ran into that big storm right at Colstrip, so the last 200 miles were at 55-60. Bent up one of the running boards on my truck busting snow drifts on the gravel road to my folks house...

E-vil Maxx 01.09.2010 01:26 AM

Nice 5B Gee, I usually do 80 on the freeway havent been nabbed yet lol
