high volt (7.4v) servos?
I need a new servo for my Muggy. I'd like to have just a single servo. I already have a hitec 5645mg in my Revo and it's alright a bit slow but no big deal. I have it powered through my Mamba Monster Esc, so I assume it gets 6v?
I would like to try a Hitec HS7954SH in the Muggy, and it has ratings at 6v and 7.4v. Will this work if powered through the MMM ESC, or will I need a seperate dedicated 2 cell lipo? |
iirc the bec in the MMM is set at 5.5V, v3 and newer may have been set to 6v, I'll have to measure mine. The HV servos will work on a MMM but will not see the full potential. Rather than a dedicated 2s lipo you could use a CC BEC, the output is adjustable with the Castle Link and you could run 7.4V+ to the servo. I would expect the servos can handle up to 8.4 since a fully charged 2s lipo is about 8.4V

ok thanks e-revonut sounds good.
At 6v, the servo puts down 333 oz/in and a speed of .15 seconds...not bad. |
Hey man just a heads up I just got a 7950th HV servo with TI gears for $109 shipped. Its probably worth the extra bones... Servocity.com Call em and ask to pricematch Troybuiltmodels. They will sell for $109 & Free shipping...

Perhaps...but money is tight atm. I can get the 7954SH for about $88 shipped...
The 7954sh at 6v puts about 21 lbs/in, while the 7950th puts down 25lbs/in. Only 5 lbs diff, but only a $20 diff as well. Do both have similar draws? |
