Help :( 8ight-T temps gone through the roof!!

Hi ALL,

Have had my 8ight-T for almost a year now and have had temps dialed nicely for a while now, motor hovers in the 155F range after a hard run.

I rebuild my centre diff last drive, and my front diff last night. I went up to heavier fluid to stop ballooning and now my motor temp has gone through the roof (198F).

Castle 2200Kv - 14/48 gearing on 4s.
Diff fluid = 30/50/10

I can't feel any binding in the diff's. Centre diff was completely rebuilt last run with fresh gears.

What could have caused such a jump in motor temps?

Could be the heavier center fluid sending more power to the rear, therefore creating a heavier load on the motor and pulling more current during acceleration. The way it was set before sounds like it was in the sweet spot for that truck/setup. Could also be the new gears are kinda rough and need time to break in...IDK Just an idea.

Did the temps on the esc change?

I cut the top off my MMM and this is the first run where I can temp the heatsink without plastic in the way so I'm not 100% sure on that one.

I found this great article on Diff Tuning and I'm thinking I've gone too heavy in the front (and possibly the centre):

30 does seem a bit heavy for the front. The heaviest I run in the front is 20 in my truggy

I'm going to run 10/20/7 when I get some 20 weight fluid.

For now I will have to run 7/10/5

What are the racers out there running in their Truggys?

In my Lightning Stadium Pro2 Basher I had 7k/F-10k/C-3k/R and now I run 30k/F-100k/C-50k/R and have found zero temp changes ????

In my other Center diffed buggy and truggy I run 7k/10k/3k viscositys.

Could crappy lipo's cause a temp increase?

When I temped everything after running, my lipos were about 20F hotter than normal and I have noticed that one of them is puffed a little (hard case has come apart at the seam).

I'd bet on a bind in the drive train.. maybe the rear diff? How do the wheels spin when the motor is off? Is it super smooth and free? I highly doubt a diff fluid change would do more than +/- 5degrees.

Pinion/spur mesh too tight maybe.Drinking beer at my work bench has done it to me.
