Monster Xray XT8 Conversion Questions
I may be purchasing a 2008 XT8 from a friend of mine. I would like to convert it to electric using the parts available here at RC-Monster. The two parts I need to know about are:
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=rcmxraymount and http://www.rc-monster.com/search.php...e=&scat=&sman= (XB808 battery tray) Now, the battery tray is not that big of a deal. If this one fits, fine, if not, I have plenty of easy modding opportunities. My main concern is the motor mount. From what I have read, the XT8 changed from 2008 to 2009 and I want to make sure that this mount will work. Thanks!! |
yes that motor mount will work but i would suggest getting mikes new kit will will give you the extra length of the 09 kit which is a huge difference in handling all you will need besides his new kit would be the 09 center drive shafts.

So you recommend this one, I guess, since it covers everything:
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...cmxt809chassis I get the shafts and I am good to go. Out of stock though :( The xt8 is mine, but I won't have it for a week or two. I hope they are in stock by then. Looking at going with a Tekin rx8 4038 2000kv on 4s. Going to gear modestly, but it should be fine for my local track. My buggy runs the 2250kv on 4s and doesn't even get warm. |
The xt8 kit you are talking about should be available soon. Mike wouldn't even lost it in the store ifnits wasn't right arround the corner.
Seems like a good motor choice. You should have a good running truck. |
I ordered the chassis last week, just waiting for it to be shipped out. I do have another question. The shafts I need for the longer chassis, are these it?
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...haft-2009-Spec http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...haft-2009-Spec Is there anything else you guys think I need? I have everything I can think of here or on order except for XT8 specific parts like these two shafts. Any additional input is much appreciated. Thanks!! |
Yep. That's the ones. But get them from stormerhobbies. They are cheaper.
|
Thanks again for the help, everything has been ordered. I had to go with Amain since Stormer didn't have the body I wanted or the servo I needed. Plus, with Amain I ended up with a $25 off coupon and free shipping, so if anything, it evened out in the end.
I try to stick with Tower and their $60 off coupons, but they don't carry very many Orion products and no Xray at all. I use all three places though, I have had a few small issues with Stormer in the past. |
My question is? the measurement between the servo and steering is it 38 to 40mm and I was looking at some turnbuckles from lunsford would that be correct, I am having a hard time getting the right steering link

Lunsford 5 X 38mm Titanium Turnbuckle (1)
[LNS1538 This is a 5x38mm Lunsford Titanium Turnbuckle for 1/8th scale buggies. This turnbuckle is the perfect fit for steering linkages between the steering ackerman plate and the steering knuckles. Lunsford Titanium Turnbuckles are designed for maximum strength and minimum weight. These turnbuckles are a great way to shed weight from your buggy, while at the same time increasing the strength to avoid breakages. These turnbuckles require a 5.5mm wrench such as the LNS9905 1/8th scale buggy turnbuckle wrench. |
or can a use one from another truggy that is shorter for the rcm xt8
|
You need M3 by 45mm long.
|
I guess Im not understanding why you just arent using the xray part? Nothing custom fit is needed.
