Wheels/tires for Savage Flux

I just got a Savage Flux, and allready I am pretty negative about the tires.

Any of you guys run the Proline 40 series on your Savages, and will they be ok, without heating the electrics too much?

Any other suggestions are also more than welcome. I primary bash around on grass, pavement and dirt.

40 series is alot of extra weight on the drivetrain and motor, I would gear down to at least 18 pinion for that size tire. I run HP GT-S tires on HPI Dish wheels and love the combo, looks and runs great!

Thatīs my worries, that they will put too much weight on the truck. These look nice though, are they performing way better than the stock ones?

I have Pro-Line LPR Crimefighters on mine and have previously run Pro-Line Badlands. Just about anything is better than the stock tires on it.

I ended up with a set of 40 series bowties on Axial oversize wheels, and theĸ are only 24 gr. more each. So it is ok.

Happen to have any pics or that on your Flux? How are the rims holding up? I also have a set of 40 serie bowties but no rims yet. Temps are unchanged?

Here are some pictures.

and thereīs a few more in the link in my signature.

I havenīt been able to try them yet, since we are complety filled up with snow, here in Denmark. I guess it is the same in Holland, right?

The pictures will be updated shortly, as I have a FLM conversion and shocktowers in the mail from Mike.

Klausen 02.04.2010 11:06 AM

My bad, it wasnīt more pics of the Savage in my signature.

Nard Cox 02.04.2010 11:23 AM

Nopes, already checked your signature, that's why I asked. But they look good, I want the non shiny black ones.

Well as of today most of the snow is gone again. Hopefully I can get a nice bash on Friday or Sunday with some friends. I know that it sucks when you can not drive because of the snow, but Denmark will be even worse than The Netherlands I bed.

Klausen 02.04.2010 12:43 PM

You got that right ;o) we are having the most snow for decades.

But back to the important stuff. I wanted the non shiny as well, but they werenīt available by the time I ordered, so I figured that it didnīt matter, itīs just looks.

Hi Klausen.
I run Proline Masher 40 series on Axial rims and looks much better than stock.
I got them for several reasosns, first of all, i run 6S. Second reason, i broke three original HPI rims in three days, and the last and most important, i like The Monster Truck Look

I tried 40 series with Bowties, then Dirtbones, then even the Nubz and Terrapins

..and went back to the stockers. Least wear and best traction for where I bash.

Nard Cox 02.09.2010 04:44 AM

You should have tried some tires with a bit more thread like the ProLine Mashers or Badlands. Both grip better then stocker (on every surface).
