New Brushless vehicle setup calculator in RCM store
Anybody else notice it this morning? I ran thru a couple different configs on it. Still some data that would be nice to have - but it seems like its configured just for items that Mike carries (nothing wrong with that). Might be nice to have that "copy" link like Brians calculator has.
Nice job on it by whoever did it. Doesnt seem like that long ago that we were talking about it. |
Just been playing with it- fairly straightforward to use and well laid out. Doesnt recommend specifc lipos that would be suitable based on the required specs, moreover just gives you baseline specs to reference when picking lipos- should be easy enough to understand though for the majority of newbs and noobs. Nice work indeed.

Very nice addition to the store front. Very simple to use

Great idea, I'm sure that'll save answering a LOT of repitious questions from noobs. It's very user friendly also, nice job.

Seems like I found a small error, The CC MMM is rated 150A in the calculator, while it's only rated 120A by CC.

Good job, def looks like some of Brian's handywork. Should make product selection easier and more directly comparible.
One question, is there an easy way of displaying the item's price next to each of the products? Say, when you are going thru the calc, and you get to the motor or esc step, there might be a large number of choices with the hardware specs. It asks you to pick one. It would be cool to have the pricing next to the specs so you could tailor it to your budget as you go. Do I need a big 280A MGM, or would a 100A MMP work ok enough for the price? A "add all items to cart" button at the end would be sweet too. Very nice work guys. Great idea |

I think it's a good idea to be limited. Less stuff to have to account for, plus you don't want people using it and then going elsewhere to buy it. Another idea, suggest accessories at the end, such as DSM radio, chargers, or vehicle specific FLM hopups or something. Lots can be done with this tool and I'm sure its only going to get better and better. |
Prices aren't put there because they may change frequently, and this tool does not pull data from a database (uses XML). Every time Mike had a sale or price changes, he would have to remember to make the same changes here. PHP code could probably be used to automatically enter the price, but not sure if that could easily be done using PHP, and besides, I was not privy to his storefront database.
BTW: Current ratings for some ESCs may be a tad "off" from the published spec. This is because some ESCs are overrated, while others are realistic "real-world" figures. If the published spec was used, then some ESCs may never be suggested even though they are more than adequate for the task. |
NP its great regardless :)

great add on
awesome addition to the already #1 rc store and bl website , espeacialy for not so smart ppl like me when it comes to electrical ! although they did not include my caster ex-1 in the vehicles to choose from :gasp: . still an awesome option none the less .:yipi:

Easy enough to add the Caster cars - use the Mugen mbx5b and mbx5t in the meantime(same basic car). :)
