how do revo 3.3s hold up to brushless power
whats going to break????
how many cells should i run with xcelorin 2100kv combo old owner was using a hobbywing 80amp esc and 9xl setup with a123 battery think it was a 4s2p maybe 5 |
whats going to break...
well, the stock tranny if not locked in 2nd gear, the rear diffs, the rear toe in rods. that xelorin motor sucks, the fieago sucks even more and the hobbywing ESC's are a pain to program. but other than that:lol: man, just go for what you can afford, have a blast with it then upgrade when you finally kill it. when you upgrade to say a tekin RX8 or a MMM combo you will be wow'd all over again :yipi: nearly all of us run turnigy or zippy 30c lipo's, 4s is a minimum usualy. |
I had a 3.3 Revo and upgraded EVERYTHING. More than needed of course. If your are running 4s I would look at AL diff cases and cups and re-shimming the diffs as a must. Or you could buy his RCM hybridv3 diff upgrade kit....look under RCMonster parts. As far as the trans goes...lock it into 2nd gear or you could do what I did is drop in a 3905 E-Maxx trans which is already to go for BL. If you do this you would need to make a small support piece for the trans..
Also, bracing the shock towers is a good idea as well..Because the servo saver is a PITA to get to, I went w/a AL one. Tekno makes a great sway bar kit for it as well... Here is a thread on the 3905 trans in a Revo and what is needed to complete..http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...905+trans+revo Here is what Mike has in the RCM store...http://www.rc-monster.com/products.p...vo+Hopup+Parts |
yeah wish i got the castle combo but i got the losi one for $120 cheaper and everyone was killing the v2s at the time
thanks for the heads up |
i have a 3.3 platinum and it still uses the two speed, so fat they only thing i have broken in 2 years has been one tekno clutch shaft, is as long as you have your slipper set right, you shouldnt have any problem
|
well got the revo up and working today with the 4s2p a123 pack i got with the car and the xcelorin 2100 combo "crap" running the tekno clutch and std brakes.
its fun just not fast not even close to fast ordered a new 5s 5000mah pack today and new set of wheels its running 23mm hexs. crazy fun on wet road drift machine/boat think i need the sway bar kit |
What gets broken depends on how you drive. I'm running a Castle Neu 2200Kv with 5S on my revo with stock diffs and I still have to break them. Tranny is locked in second using Oomp's single plate conversion on Robinson metal gears.

yeah mbx1275 has my old Revo which I fully rebuilt just before he got it. The transmission has a wide ratio gear set and was geared 16/36 so on 4s123 with the 2100kv Losi you'd expect perhaps 53.28kph. If you went to 5s Lipo with the same set up it'd be closer to 74kph but I'd watch temps, on 5s Lipo I'd gear perhaps 15/40 with the same wide ratio set for 67kph.
If you retain the tekno clutch and slipper, you should have very little (if any) drivetrain problems. Never had any issues myself, even when I ran Baja tyres on it :D |
seems very slow for 50 got some new wheels today just waiting on my hobbyking order for batteries now and a long shank pinion
|
Maybe reset the end points on your ESC, I know I had a MMM that seemed fairly slow, only to find the end points were way out.
|
3 Attachment(s)
ill give that a go cheers
waiting on more parts just rush job to see how she goes |
took the tekno clutch off today as my new long shank pinion came in the mail, all i can say i wow massive difference in power. i'm worried 5cell is going to be crazy
|
i need MORE power...
i changed to a 3.3 chassis and my 6s feels like nothing :yipi::intello::lol: "the only solution to bad handling is more power!!" |
what gearing do you use
|
I have been using a 2.5 converion with the stock gearbox and the 2speed left for over a year without issues. Only drivetrain upgrade was a alu diff cup in the rear. Make sure the diffcup screws are tightned down securely and that your bearings are fresh:). The slipper setting is very important, you can have wheelies at will without blowing the diffs everyday, just adjust it properly:). Good looking truck!
