D8 conversion kit

Hi Mike, I am about to pull the trigger on one of your new D8 kits (looks too sweet) I have only one question, will my MMM fit under the stock D8 body mounted on the esc tray?
Thanks, GeorgeC

Still working on getting my buddy's for testing, George. I haven't forgotten about you, though. :)

Thanks Mike, But I went ahead and ordered the kit and a couple more pinions. After thinking about it this is the kit That I like the most out of all that I have looked at and I have already sold my old Tekno kit to a guy in CA and all my 1/12th scale stuff to a guy in Spain (1/12th died here). So what the heck I'll make it work under the lid some how even if I have to change to another one. I'll post some pics after I get it all together :yipi:

Well I received my RCM/D8 kit today PDQ ordered it on Thur and received it on Mon. Every thing fits perfect in the stock chassis. And like Mikes ad says it doesn't look like a cheap conversion it looks more like a factory built E buggy. Just waiting on a couple more parts to finish it up. I'll post some pics then. Thanks Mike

Looks good! A lot more pinion room than the cut off stock radio tray gives ya.

The latest changes to my D8. Some free pieces from HPI after simply writing to them about the unpainted Vorza body and body mounts, they sent those and a whole sack of other pieces, the rear brace with the wire guides built in, the brace didn't fit so I cut off the wire guides and glued it to my rear brace also sent the center diff top brace and the front steering/diff brace. I'll install the body mounts after the new body comes in.

Looks pretty good! how does the body fit?

georgec 03.14.2010 02:25 PM

Rite now I use the jconcepts illuzion body and it fit's well enough, but I think the Vorza body will fit better because the sides are a little higher.

How's the weight balance, left to right, George. I have an opportunity to pick up a D8 and would want to go electric on it but noticed the motor is WAY out there on the right hand side. Just curious how it's running.

georgec 03.15.2010 06:20 PM

The balance for me so far seems quite good, I run 4s 5000mAh batteries so it seems to offset the weight of the of the motor. Front to rear seems good also. Although I have only ran a few laps with the D8 in this configuration it felt very stable in turns and jumped fairly flat. First race of the season is this Saturday so I should know better how she works in race conditions after that. Will post results Sunday!
Wish me luck.
