Waterproofing the MMM ESC!
Looks brutal but apparently works!!
Winced like hell when he dropped the ESC in the jug of water!! Any thoughts PDC? :surprised: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUSmKAvHyEk |
This is mine with loctite sealant.
I also cut the case so it's much easy to clean from debris... http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...y/DSCN5242.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...y/DSCN5243.jpg |
I sealed mine up with liquid tape and it's been going strong all winter. Fan still works but only comes on when I first hook it up. I've had my MADD packed with snow to the point that when I took off the body I almost had the same shape out of snow.

Its a warrenty void, but if your esc is over 12 months old, or you have a 'devil may care' attitude & like puddles, the plastidip or other sealant type mod does seem to work very well. That red monster that maneba has done looks like an Mtroniks item almost, only, redder... :mdr:

Looks like it works, but since there is still work to be done on my G3 before I can get it moving again, there is no need yet to get it water/snow proof.
But I'll definately will keep this method in mind... |
This works too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jpSW50cobs Now I'm kinda addicted to this, I sprayed it all over my Flux. (dogbones, bearings, screws) |
you are a saint V0RT3X...
that is so clean! can you vouch for it working?... just looked at the price for it in england... check it out... England: £15.99 http://corrosion-x.co.uk/products.asp?cat=1 America: $15.25 http://www.buycorrosionx.com/ccp1-prodshow/cx91002.html no chance it costs that much difference to import it... nearly double the price?? would you say it was worth it tho? |
Well mine still works. I used the aerosol because it's the only one I could get in my country (cost me about 16€)
I did run in snow (wet and powder) and it was covered in it but no problems. Also ran stock the day before (not sprayed yet) and it survived but started to cog once and some smoke came out. Maybe it was the fan. More info here: http://www.savage-central.com/module...wtopic&t=84796 |
know if there's any warranty issue with this method? as i only just got my esc and don't wanna ruin the warranty...
|
Read the whole thread before posting- yes, it is a definate warrenty void as it makes the esc impossible to work on to repair it/ perform diagnostics. If the esc is over 12 months old then you would only have to pay the flat rate non-warrenty repair/replacement fee of $70-75.

Vort3x
Thank you VORT3X That was a very impressive demonstration. I believe that I would be too afraid of plopping my ESC into water and pluggin it in, but from your video it is hard to dispute the facts. Nice video and great product. Thanks for sharing the info with us.
