Warrior 9918 Brushless Car Controller in a BOAT ?
Hello,
I am searching a BL speed control not too expensive, good quality, li-po safe and it can be in a car or a boat. What speed control I should use ? I check and the Warrior 9918 have all my needs but I don't know If it can be in a boat ? thx |
They happen to make a warrior controller specifically for boats as well (and I happen to have one in stock). The boat and car software are different, so you would be best served getting the controller specific to your needs. If anything, a car controller would probably work better in a boat than a boat controller would work in a car. Boats don't need/have strong brakes, which is a primary software difference. Physically, the boat controller is much bigger as well (has water cooling).

and for the motor ? Does the 4200XL will make the job and he will fit in a 540 place ? I view in your store that is "out of stock" when you should have some ? If the 4200XL is not correct what motor I should use (car/boat in 540 place with good performance)
thx |
Is it replacing a single 540 motor? If so, either of the Feigao "s" motors will work, as will either of the Lehner basic or basic xl motors. How many cells are you planning to run? I recently sent the Lehner motors back to Germany. They were recalled due to bad glue on the rotor. I hope to here from them today or tomorrow regarding the return of these motors, but I had a couple motors throw the magnet from the shaft and wanted to have the others checked before I sold them. I will be able to find a worthy motor from my stock to adequately exceed your expectations, though!

6cells, sometimes 12cells and in the future, LiPo
|
The 6s (Feigao) would be a nice 6 cell motor. For 12 cells, a basic xl 3100 or so would probably work best.
|
the 8s and 6s Feigao will do 6 and 12 cells?
|
The 8s (and especially the 6s) is overtaxed on 12 cells. The 8s and 6s will both do very well on 6 cells, but for 12 cells, you would need something else (the 4200xl motor you mentioned before would be quite a performer on 12 cells). I have a used 4200xl motor I may part with if you need it in a hurry.
|
and the 4200XL will be a good performer too on 6cells? or maybe I 8s Feigao and a other model of Feigao that will do 12 cells?
|
The 4200 will do quite well on 6 cells and will be a beast on 12 cells. For Ideal performance with either cell count, two different motors would be best, but the 4200xl will work with either. The Feigao 8L is a nice 12 cell motor. It is a little longer than a standard 540 motor, but if it would fit, it has a truckload of power.

for be sure, LiPo safe mean that the speed control will stop automaticly when the battery pack voltage will be low ?
and which LiPo pack I can take ? I search but the pack is for airplane and 400 type motor or small motors... I will take the 8s Feigao and later the 8L I think, now I have to save some money ;) |
The voltage cutoff is 2.55 volts per cell on the BK controllers. This is a little lower than many recommend for LiPo,however if the pack is under a load, this voltage setting will be pretty safe. If you slowly discharge to this level, it is too low for most LiPo. For the best safety, a discharge safety device would be best. These are not very expensive, but act as a safety device during discharge. I will try to find a link to one for you.

I check for the dimension of the pack.
The max dimension I can accept is : lenght : 6.25", 16 cm, 160mm width : 1.75", 4.5cm, 45mm height : 0.75", 2cm, 20mm (may be little more) and it would be preferable that the pack is not more than 2500mah because I have already the charger but not more than 2500, is the Apache SmartCharger 2500 (max 4cell 14.8v, 2500mah). But if no pack with this limit is already exist I can think of buy an other charger. thx again |

Only the XL motors from a certain time frame were affected. You shouldn't have any trouble with your motor.
