successfully took out the bad cell on my lipo.. now what?

hey guys like the title sais i had a bad cell on my 3s lipo back so i removed the puffed cell and now ihave a pos and neg balancer lead

do i need to buy a whole new balancing setup since the old one ran on 3s?

if not what do i do with these remaining wires?

if pics are needed lemme know

thanks!

You can keep the existing balance connector, just move the wires over as needed so they are still in consecutive order. This just means you will be left with an extra slot on the end of the connector.

what am i to do with the remaining 2 wires? seems that i would not use the neg and put the positive balancer lead along with the positive deans lead?

Since you now have a 2s pack, you will have 3 balance wires. One will be the same point as the main + wire, one will be the same point as the main - wire, and one will be the junction point between the two cells. Remove the extra wire.

If you need more info, we are going to need a large clear picture.

okay here are some pics..

I tried setting up the left black lead onto the power lead and leaving the red balancer lead just dangling there... but that did not work

Will these pics help?

also: the only wires that i messed with is the pos wire that has been soldered on and obviously the two balancer leads.

remove the extra black wire since that cell is gone, then solder the positive wire to the positive sode of the pack, then slid all the wires over from the positive over

Refer to the picture below:

http://rc-monster.com/forum/attachme...0&d=1266823192

1: Completely remove the black wire with the red X from the connector.

2: Move the red wire to where the black wire was.

3: Solder the end of the red wire to the lipo tab where the main + wire is.

t-maxxracer32 02.22.2010 03:24 AM

when you say slide it all over you mean i should switch the red and black wire? move the red over to the left and then i actually dont have to put the black wire back on?

if that is what you mean cant i just take the red wire off and solder the black wire to the pos?

t-maxxracer32 02.22.2010 03:26 AM

ok so what i said above should be true right? or does the red wire have something special about it?

i dont care if the colors line up because ill just tape it all up anyways..

squeeforever 02.22.2010 03:54 AM

Yea, you can just solder the black wire to the positive. It'll essentially be the same as what Brian said to do.

t-maxxracer32 02.22.2010 03:58 AM

hm that is strange because when i tried doing that it did not work.. my balancer wouldnt pick it up. its pushing 8 volts so i dont think the cell voltage is a problem

SunnyHouTX 02.22.2010 07:51 PM

Try to keep the red wire since it will tell you which end of the balance tap is +. Having all black wires could lead to a catastrophe if due diligence is not followed 100% of the time.
