i need help
 

hi im rob,
i have been running RC cars for a few years now, but i have always had nitro's.

i have blown a few engines now and felt like running some electric RC Cars/ Trucks.

:o please dont laugh :o

i now i have a CEN fun factor Rally, and i want to put a brushless set up on it. i have already put a single speed tranny on it and is just waiting to put in a motor.

here is the problem!

i dont know what sort of motor to put in.
or what kind of speedcontroler.

so please could any one help.

any info would be greatly apreciated

How many cells will you be running?

I am not too familiar with this particular vehicle, but I would imagine any 1/10 truck powerplant would work well. I would start with answering netmans question. From here, some gearing would be helpful to determine the reduction in the car (even letting us know the stock gearing and set-up would help). No doubt there will be a few systems you could choose from, depending on what your plans are (bash?Race?street running?). Welcome to the forums, also. :)

i plan on running 8 cells. ive been talking to a friend of mine and he has suggested running a setup such as a Feigao 8S motor withe 8 cells and a Warrior 9918 controller. would this run ok? i just want to make sure i don't blow a load of money on the wrong setup.

the car's stock final drive ratio is 9.71:1, but i want to run 2.2" tyres in the near future...hopefully i'll be able to up the ratio.

although that's the link to the mt2, my car is the rally version and uses the exact same chassis and everything...but with shorter suspension arms and tyres. and my car has the single speed, so braking shouldn't be a problem.

oh, and i'll be using it for bahing during the week, but i'll be racing it at the weekends. I'd just like to have plenty of torque and a top speed of over 40mph....as fast as possible really!

The 8s and warrior controller or MGM controller will both work fine for this vehicle(although I couldn't get the link to work). If you plan on running less than 8 cells, go with the MGM controller. If you may go over 12 cells, then the warrior becomes the only option.

soz for the last one, i put it the wrong way round.

i am running the rally versoin not the MT but it is the same chassis. and i already have put on a single speed tranny so it would run direct from the motor.

That link worked. It will probably require some mods on your part, but the Lehner basic xl series or Feigao "s" motor will probably work quite well. I would go with the 8s Feigao for some extreme performance, but for better runtime, a basic or basic xl with lower rpms will be a better choice. On 8 cells, the 3600xl should be a great choice or 3600 basic, but these are not in stock). The 3100 would probably work quite well also.

I am waiting to decide on what brushless set up I intend to use.

I intend on using either a 4 or 5ml aluminium or steel plate depending on prices of metal.

I will make a few disigns and put them on the brushless forum.

I am planning to make the motor plate within the next few weeks as I am busy at the moment.

aluminum will be plenty strong and much lighter than steel. Can you post a few pictures of your truck to this thread (without the motor)? Perhaps some of the members here can make some suggestions to assist you in your project.

just wonderd, when designing the motorr mount to fit in the CEN would i also be able to fit it into other nitro trucks, like my rush for example.

i think that it would be fine to do as the motor mounts are identical.

what does any one else think?

I think this is gonna be an awesome project Rob, but you knw what I think already, lol! I wouldn't have thought you'd have any trouble with making the mount fit the Rush too. You might need to make alternative holes in the mount to mount it to the Rush chassis and adjust the gearing, but it should run work great.:D
