I am thinking about building a nitro truck, but need help picking a big-block engine.
The Truck: Most likely a full-blown UE Supermaxx (Thunder Chassis)...
On my old BB SM, I ran the LRP Z.28R Spec-3 Big-Block (3.81HP with pull-start), and it was just plain awesome...killer torque, acceleration, top-speed, powerband, and overall power...not to mention very easy to start, tune, and keep tuned. I thought about running this engine again, but there have been a lot of new engines come out in the last couple of years, like the LRP ZR.30 Spec-2 and ZR.30 X Competition, and more from other brands. I am not looking to spend $400 on an O.S. engine, since the LRP and Axial engines make just as much power, and are just as reliable, for 1/3 the price...I am just looking for help and opinions on what engines you guys would choose. Right now I am leaning toward to LRP ZR.30 Spec-2 (with Roto-Start), since it is based on the Z.28R Spec-3, but the ZR.30 X Competition (with Roto-Start) is also an option...what do you guys think? http://pics.offroadextremes.com/rc/ue/chads_sm2.jpg |
I say install a Castle big block and run 100% lipo fuel.
BTW chad I ordered a Hyperion G3 last night. |
I have plenty of BL vehicles, and no nitros anymore, so I am going to build a bad-ass nitro vehicle again.

Chad I see you bidding on those UE parts on ebay after you sold all your UE truck. WHat gives?

i loved my picco .28 max red dot in my revo for a while, but my track went to a .26 and under class for MT's so i went with a .26 max.but the .28 RD was a really high revver for its displacement and just kept pulling.--josh

Chad did you get a coveted spot in the Cullman manufacturer shootout?
|
Nah, did you?

SH 0.28 8 port.....very cheap and very good, they make the engines for many others such as dynamite, LRP, Nosram, etc.
I have the 6 port SH .28 in my Muggy and it's a stump puller! Holds a tune well, starts and idles without drama...all good! |

I'll be there though! Will I see you there? |
Yea, I am most likely going to make it...you should meet me at my house, since it is on your way to Cullman, and we can ride up together.

It's roughly an hour and 20 minutes from my house, so it's not that bad...but, we could get a hotel room and throw a sick party!!!

SH Engines are well known for their ease of tuning. The 8-port is a smooth running engine. I have 1 in a Z-CAR ZMXT-8 PRO and another in a CEN Matrix Arena TR. I often don't even take out my tuning screwdriver at the track. SH Engines are Available at http://www.terranovahobby.ca |
