turn equiv for a medusa 36x50mm 4800kv motor?
Anyone have any thoughts on what the turn equiv for this motor would be? I know the tekin's of similar size and kv rating would put this at a 10.5 or a 10t... but I really am not sure.

the 4800kv Medusa would be more like an 8.5 or even a 7.5....

Is there a chart, how would i find out for sure? The tekin is a 10.5 is a 4400kv and of similar size, granted it's what is inside that counts :)

I know where your going with this Brian! It's not a fair comparison at all though, Medusa is a 4 pole motor the others are 2 pole. The Medusa will put out way more power than the others ever thought of. I would have to say the power potential of the 50mm Medusa is prolly close to that of one of the Novak 550 sized HV motors.
For everyone else I beleive Stum is bringing this up because the rules for 4x4 SC at the track we race at. They have said a 10.5 motor and 2s lipo max. IMHO these rules need to change. For one if I bought a 4x4 slash I would want to use the vilineon system that came in it, or at least the motor and put a MM on it. A 540 sized 10.5t motor just isn't u to the task of pushing a 4x4 sc truck, I beleive many who try will destroy their motors within 2 weeks of racing |

What exactly is the velineon considered anyway? It's not quite a 540 is it 550?, I've read it's about a 10t equiv, true? |
The velineon is slightly larger than a Feigao S can IIRC. Comparing it to the S can kv values it would be a 10 turn, within 100 kv of each other.
I'm going to the open practice at CRC on April 10th, I hope to talk about this with them then. I wouldn't mind getting into a second class and I can pick up a slash 4x4 fairly cheap, or get one of the new rc10t4.1 brushless stdium trucks but in either class I want to run what comes in them, not have to go out and buy a new motor and possibly esc. Until things are figured out I will only be running 1/8 truggy. Commpletely re-built my truck in the last week! Pics are in my RC-M RC8T build thread in the truggy section |
