flux conversion questions, motor plate
I'm in the midst of a flux conversion and am trying to get my parts sorted out that I need. Looking at possibly getting the TCS chassis plates and hpi motor plate. However I have my doubts whether the hpi motor mount will work with my motor. I have a hobbyking 9XL. So, I'm looking at possibly getting this mount http://204.186.93.64/MotorMounts-Savage.html. Its the one at the top of the page. This mount is meant to be used on the holes in the engine plate where the nitro engine mount would normally attach to. My question is A. can the nitro motor plate be used with the flux chassis plates or B. is the hole spacing on the flux motor plate the same as the nitro motor plate. Hope this is clear enought to understand.

The standard Flux one would only work on a can the same size as the standard Flux motor. It won't work with the 2200kv from Castle (same as the Flux) because it has a different can fin configuration.
That mount doesn't look too bad. Something like this from RCM would be great!! (hint Mike!) :) If you are using Flux plates (or equivalent like the TCS... see my thread about 5T conversion) you aren't able to use the nitro motor plates. Its a different size with different attachment locations. Quote:

many have filed down the stock mounts a couple of mm to fit these over the fins. Fins do get a little scratched but people arent complaining. It works, and is the cheap quick alternative to getting some mounts made up...

Yes , just shave a little alu. of the Clamp and u should be ok with CC motor...
Here a few pic. how i did it... http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...leknez/1-8.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...leknez/3-6.jpg And these where shaved for evena bigger motor... http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...ez/2Medium.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...leknez/123.jpg :great: |
Any smooth can neu 15 series will fit the flux mounts.

Thanks for the pics knez... does it matter if you take of a little too much in parts? obviously its going to be hard to get perfect....I see you are also usnig a washer... Is it all a tight fit???
lincpimp... haha funny name,... anyway can i get the 1518 neu motor finless? would it make a difference in heat dissapation? My main worry is over heating... |
Your options would be to go with an original neu, as the CC motors are not sold finnless. A 1521 will provide more power than the 1518 motor, and I am sure you can find a clip on heatsink. I do agree that finned motors run cooler.

linc i cant seem to find these 1521 for sale... What kV output do the offer? Want to buy one today if possible.. i will go for the 1518 unless the 1521 offers similar or better performance and fits easily in the stock clamps...

No problems for Pic.
Yes,i am using 2 washers on each clamp, tightened the screws step by step... clamps fit the CC motor perfect. |
