how to get grass out of my MMM
Ive got some grass stuck in the fan of my MMM which is stopping the fan from turning Ive been thinking of blowing it out with compressed air but I'm worried about snapping the fan blades off - has anyone tried it?
|
Move the fan blades with a small screwdriver until you can grab it with tweezers?
|
It will be fine or pop case and remove fan to clean.
Blowing with compressor is likely to push grass into heatsink. If it's really stuck in there pop the case. |
Just open the case. Pay attention on how it disassembles. Then get the grass out and put it back together.
|
I hate popping the case - but I guess I'm going to have to do it again - they never click together again for me, was just grasping at straw looking for an alternative
Ps tried the tweezers but some is wedged down in the heatsink and cant get it out I may try some fly wire over the fan as my system runs pretty cool anyway fan only comes on when I'm really caning the Maxx on 6 cells |
I use a hoover- just put on the smallest nozzle you have onto the end of the hose, and suck the grass out; might need to poke and tweeze at it a bit, but I can safely say it works fine and gets out 99% of the grass...

I hold the ESC/truck upside down and shoot compressed air in from the sides.
|
best way to get it out is to stop it getting in ;) to really get it all out you will have to pop the case.
when you have it out, place your mmm inside a pair of tights... filters all the crud and are thin enough not to impede airflow |
Thanks all about to fire up the vac and see how i go

Vacuum works nice.

This is Why i made this conversion to my MMM.
Now i can clean it in 1 second and my temperatures are very very low without a fan. I use it in a e-revo with 6S (flightmax 40c) medusa 36-80-1600, 17-18 pinion and 65 spurgear. Traxxas has built a plastic case so big and fit that the air circulation is near zero also with the fan turned on!!! Maybe this summer i'll mount a fan on but i doubt it. http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...y/DSCN5242.jpg |
