1) What parts are easy to get/in stock at your LHS? Makes replacing things on race-day a little easier. 2) What is your budget? 3) What scale are you looking at? 1/12, 1/10, 1/8? The smaller scales are going to be a little cheaper because the power systems needed to drive them aren't going to be as big or demanding. 4) Are you going to race, bash, or both? 5) What speed are you hoping to attain? |
i was looking to go with 1/8 scale , some racing , i can get the parts i just like to buy allot of part so when i need them i got them , i have a bx8 with a monster 2200kv running 2 4s lipos in parallel just wanted some info of what guy are doing out there with truggys

Mugen.

well, here's my opinion - get an xray xt8. that's all i have experience with, but it's an unreal race machine, and an indestructible basher. in this game, tough is what i like. but it's not cheap, esp. if you want a lot of spares.

The XT8 is a pretty decent platform. However, I seem to keep bending the rear axle pins on the tire carrier; I've replaced them 3 times so far. I tried adjusting the spacers so that there is less strain on them, but if that doesn't work, I'm going to drill out the arms and axle carrier to use the same diameter pin that's on the diff hinge pin.

I have a D8T, mainly because it shares many parts with my VE8.
If you want to get parts locally, pick one that the local hobby shop stocks parts for. |

I have the Mugen mbx5T and love it..most who have the 6T love theirs as well. Very durable
|
If you don't mind buying used I would go with what someone suggested above or a Hyper ST. I've had mines for a year and nothing has broken yet. And I must say I do bash pretty dang hard.
|
Mugen or AE.
|
love my RC8T and it's been very durable, only broken part during the race season last year was a rod end on the rear chassis brace and broke a screw that holds the suspension pins from falling out.

you cant go wrong with an Xray xt8 09 spec, Rc8t CE, or Mugen Mbx6t.... all are great trucks with great kits availble here from mike, and all drive great.
-the mugen has the best corner speed -the associated turns tight and really sucks up a rough track -the xray is inbetween them, it does everything great just not exceptionally better than others in any one department. you cant go wrong just pick your favorite of those and enjoy. |
