Opinions on hard anodizing and TiNi coatings?
Is there a general consensus of how much these coatings help on wear items? Will spending the extra cash on upgraded TiNi or hard ano'd parts make a big difference in the long run?
For example, if my diff ring gears are already made of hardened steel, will using a version with TiNi coating really make them last much longer? |
Wondering if those losi diff gears are worth the price????
All I can say is that TiN coated drill bits last alor longer than M2 steel ones. And I have no idea how good the stock losi steel really is, might not be as good as M2... I have a set in my lst, with nova rc diff cups and they have not given me any issues yet. Also have a set for the muggy, which can be had fairly cheap if you seach for sportwerks gears on ebay, same as the losi tin coated. |
thats good to know linc
i can say for shocks and drill bits tiNi coatings make all the diffrence, and aluminum hard coated pinions are wonderfull as for the diff gears i cant say, next time i have the money laying around i am going to try them |

EDIT: Decided to order a pair each of the 45T and 43T. Got the pair of 45T, but there was only a single 43T listed, so I bought it and emailed them to see if they had another one available. Problem is since Sportwerks has discontinued their production I have a feeling I might have to track the other 43T down from somewhere else. Could always go for the Losi one, but would rather not pay over 3x more for it. |
The HB internals will not fit losi diffs.
Found that out the hard way. My diffs have std internals in them, seem to do fine with 30k in the front and 10k in the rear. |
Not using Losi diffs though, using Caster diffs for F8T truggy.

with traxxas...not at all, the only reason i run them is because they make them from a stronger steel also.
the TiNi coating wares off in about 3 hours of use anyway. |
Has anyone ever tried Cryogenic processing to make stuff stronger?
www.metal-wear.com/ theirs a video with Jay Leno and they explain what this does |
