Cheap Brushless for Crawler ???
So I'm looking for a cheap brushless system for my crawler. Has anyone tried the ez run 35 amp with 32T motor in a crawler? I have a basically stock AX-10 that I use around the house and bring with to races to goof around with between races, so I dont need anything big dollar or competition but I dont want complete junk either. It looks like the ezrun can have 100% drag brake and the 32T motor looks about right too, what are your thoughts?

Sidewinder and a small outrunner perhaps or a used 2s goat

sidewinder and a scorpion outrunner gets the job done nicely (scorpion is the manufacture that made the out runners for homes hobbies)
|
But you might as well get something that has support and will last when you want to get something better... I'd by Castle
|
I agree that the castle would have the support and most likely be a much better choice, I was curious if anyone had tried the ez run.
So anyone got a sidewinder for sale cheap? |
OK so update here on this thread, I just picked up a used Mamba Max from Rawfuls on here, I think that will work nicely in my crawler (I hope so).
Can someone provide me with a link to a nice brushless motor, maybe the scorpion that was listed above or perhaps a part number for one that will work nicely on my AX-10? Im thinking of running on 2s, currently its setup for 6 cell Nimh, but if 3s is the way to go let me know and recommend motor for that setup. Thanks |
Arct1k, Semi Pro, anyone, what motor should I get to go with the MM in my crawler?

Check out holmes hobbies. Holmes is the man.

I like an 1100kv outrunner on 3s. My comp crawler had a 833kv motor on 3s, but it was a 28 series motor so it was a "bit" oversized. Finding an outrunner with a 25mm mount pattern and an 1/8 shaft is difficult, that is why holmes may be your best bet. Most 25mm pattern outrunners have 5mm shafts. I used 32p pinions and spurs on my comp crawler, but you have limited gearing going away from 48p.
I have used the small axi outrunners with an adapter plate to mount to the axial tranny. My little 6x6 tlt axle crawler does grreat with that motor. Pretty sure it is a 2217 1100kv motor. But you do need a 19mm to 25mm adapter plate to mount that motor on a axial/pede tranny. I made one out of a steel washer. |
So I'm best to go with the HH 1100kv revolver then? Im sort of confused though, will that bolt directly to my axial or do I need an adapter plate to match it up?

The holmes hobbies revolver should mate right up, 25mm bolt pattern and 1/8(3.2mm) shaft is what you need.

Perfect thats what I'll go with then and run it on 3s. Thanks for all your tips guys.

No prob, I am full of tips (and hot air)
|
Just FYI, BL crawlers tend to cog quite a bit more than you might be used to with regular trucks. I would plan on adding a couple more capacitors and/or using a smaller pinion.
