Been out of the game for a while.

So today i decided to pull out my hyper 8 out of hibernation. Just to discover that all three diffs were destoryed. Should I go with OEM or somthing else. I'm running 4s so I'm not making that much power. I just need some help on what to pick.

Are the stock diffs that weak? Even on 4s if they are not shimmed correctly, they will not last long. I blew 2 diffs on my mbx-5T due to my own stupidity of improper shimming

check to see if these might fit...http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLGV5&P=Z They may be stronger than the stock ones

The diffs i had in it were abused from the get-go. lol First nitro then the convesion the have taken a beating.I counted the teeth last night out of my center diff and the numbers are, 20 for the big spiders and 10 for the small spiders. The ones you linked are the same. so they should fit right??

I would think so. I have a few sets of those I plan on trying out myself. Should be a big upgrade from the cast alloy ones in most stock diffs.

Another reason why I think they worn out was they were not shimed right. I really dont know how to accually shim them. Can someone explain how to shim a diff right.

Those will fit. I have them in my Hyper 7 diff case on my supermaxx and inside the Kyosho diff case for my ST RR. Hyper 7/8/8.5 share the same diffs by the way.

different diffs, but same concept. how to shim diffs.

I think i will go ahead and also buy a shim kit (if available) and 2 new sets of pinions and ring gears just to make sure its all new. When I opened one of the diffs there were no shims! lol either I lost them one day when doing a repair or somthing. This might have also added to the headache.
