Evolution of G2R Race Truck
Now that i have tried bl, seen how it works, im ready to try somthing new. I will be making a track and will be racing a emaxx for fun, now im ready to take the plunge into lipo:) I was thinking about these http://fmadirect.com/Detail.htm?item=2091§ion=32 and with 2 of these chargers http://fmadirect.com/Detail.htm?item=1925§ion=32 . Now that is 1 thing for my revo, ive done some reading on LVC's and lipos in general. Mike, would you be able to get me these? I still have a 5% discount i need to use:dft012: Will these save me a bit if any noticable weight, im also gonna be using aluminum pillow balls, traxxas red rod ends, aluminum hollowballs and rocker posts.
Now, what else will i need? Can someone give me a link to a power supply that mike can get me? Thanks, ill post pics once im done doing some of my work. |
ya selvester then that will be crazy!!!! Oh I See ... e-maxx for now lets gust stick gp3300 and nitro mt, how about that.

Im not sure, i might have to wait on that:( I just wanna get lipo than im set:)

How are these lipos? Ive heard many good things, but what i like the most about these lipos is SAFTEY. Anything before i dish out 400$ on batteries? :D

Here are some pics of the base truck and my nylon block for esc.

2 Attachment(s)
And heres the tranny i will be using, single speed, with mikes idlers.. And note that i will be modifying the block, i will be milling it down so the ubec and controller mold in with it, it will also save some weight.
|
I was thinking of getting some sort of support for the lipos, maybe some sort of battery tray, i remember seeing one, i just dont recall where, would it be needed or will the lipos stay in there place?
|
Any opinions out there on these fma lipos? Will it be close in speed torque , because it will have 14.8 v but the motor handles 19.2? thanks.
|
i wouldnt go for those. they wont give you great runtime, then again, if your not worried about runtime there a great battery.
|
Oh i see, but i thought that if its giving out 14.8 V - some weight would equal good runtime, + the motor is 10l, but i might go with 5s lipo which me and mike are discussing:)
|
i would comsider the cell pros. they come in a higher mah.
|
linky?

http://fmadirect.com/products.htm?cat=45&nid=4 I don't know that I would go with Kokam/FMA. IMO, they're overpriced for what they are. You could go with Hyperion or Polyquest XP or Flightpower or Duralite (etc.) and still get very good cells, possibly at a lower price. |
FMA has a complete line of products.
If you're worried about price then thats one thing but the FMA line is the best out there imo. (because of the safety and performance levels). The cell pro's would be a good option if you are looking at using 3s and/or 4s packs. The only issue I have with the scorpians is that they only come in 2s configs but if your running 4s they will work great. I run 6s (2x 3s) FMA BalancePro HV's (formerly skyvolt). I had a compatibility issue with the FMA DPM and the BK 9920 esc. I worked with Nathan, @fma, and he is modifying the BalancePro DPM line to work with the BK controllers. I'll get my new DPM's next week. I've had good customer service from FMA and like the products. I think I may pick up a set of cell pro's for my next set of packs. The major advantage of FMA is a proven product line that has a complete package of 20c discharge rate cells, a balancing charger, LVC's and a 3C CHARGE RATE available. You can rest assured that you can quickly charge your packs in a pinch with the 2s or 6s chargers. (with-in 20 min anyway). The cellpro charger only charges at a max of 3 amp. I haven't been able to complete a run on my FMA skyvolt cells before my truck has given up (broke :005: ). the last time at the track, I ran over 25 minutes when my truck gave up and the cells were still at 20 volts. The only issue I have experienced with lipo's, in general, is the degraded runtime in low temp environments. I keep my packs in my pocket, when its cold, and use a heat gun if necessary. I think MetalMan actually suggested heating them up and it works :027: |
