Simplechamp's Jammin X1CR
 

Here's my newest addition, a Jammin X1CR. I purchased it from another member as a roller and just finished getting everything set up.

It uses the standard RCM Jammin motor mount, but it is flipped around to replace the forward diff mount instead of the rear. The motor is a Neu 1512/1.5Y/F and the controller is a MMP. It will be run on two 2S hardcase packs. Aside from the running gear it has quite a few X2 alloy and carbon fiber upgrades, captured hinge pins, Slipperential, and HoBao 17mm big bore shocks.

The body is custom painted by BODZ, and the pics don't do it justice. The red has metallic flake in it, and the grey is actually shiny chrome. I'm going to try and get better pics outside during the day. The wheels are some generics from Ebay I bought to test out. They are a Badlands-style pattern but the compound feels a bit firmer. I have heard the tires are good but the rims are not so great, so we'll see what happens. I also want to get the white springs for the big bores to match the body.

In the future I plan to switch to a low kv Tekin sensored motor and some pairs of 3S packs to run 6S, but since I already have many pairs of 2S packs for my truggy it made the most sense to run 4S. As you can see in the pics (also if you've seen my truggy) I really need to work on getting cleaner, more organized wiring. My setups are always safe and functional, but I want to practice making everything look better too. If anyone has any tips on that please feel free.

Thats a good looking buggy! I loved my Jammin X1. It was my first 1/8 and I beat the crap out of it!

Thanks Arct1k, you really took great care of it and I'm very pleased with it. Also, A-main was blowing out their 7075 hard anodized chassis for $25 each so I bought the last 2. They also have the regular 7075 non-ano'd version for $16!

Today I replaced the brass bushings on the KHZ Ackermann plate with rubber sealed bearings, and changed the receiver capacitor from two 680uF 25V caps to a single 1500uF 10V

Went out for the first run today. Everything worked out well. I forgot to bring my temp gun, but the fan on the MMP never turned on, and the Neu stayed pretty cool as well. I was a little concerned the 5000mah 20C Turnigy hardcase packs wouldn't be enough, but they had plenty of punch and didn't get hot. The Badlands-style tires really bite in on grass, I traction rolled a few times before I learned how it handled. This was the first time I drove a buggy and I was impressed with how nimble they are.

The only issue I had was that the MMP has a suspected faulty BEC (you may have seen my posts in the Castle forum). Even with a 1500uF cap the SR300 receiver powered down momentarily a few times during the run. I think I'm going to send it in to Castle.

Thanks! I finally got the right size screws so I could secure the shocks better at the standoffs. The weird thing is that I looked at the Hyper 9 manual, and they don't even use any screws or nuts to secure the shocks at the top, they just pop them onto the standoffs and leave it like that. Wonder why they did that, they really think that's secure enough?

I don't see why not, the X2 chassis is very similar to the X1. You just need to flip the motor mount around so it replaces the forward center diff mount instead of the rear. There are plenty of holes in the chassis on both sides to put screws to secure the battery trays (also can put screws through the plastic mudguards.)

It might be worth noting that my center diff mount and motor mount sits on a small aluminum riser plate. I'm not sure if it's required for clearance, or just to cover the spur hole in the chassis to protect the spur and keep out dirt and debris. Arct1k put it on there, so maybe he can comment on it's purpose.

That stuff that looks like hair is from stupid dandelions everywhere in the park. Blew most of it out with compressed air but it is stubborn. Need to find a better bash spot.

Its because when you rotate the diff the spur doesn't line up with the hole in the chassis - This raises it slightly to provide clearnance.

Also has the benefit of eliminating the hole...

OK I see now. I never looked at the bottom of the chassis too closely. On my Caster truggy the diff is flipped around with the spur towards the front as stock, forgot that for nitro vehicles it's usually the other way around.
