MBX-6T M-Spec or RC8T CE
 

Hey guys, in the next few months I am considering buying another truggy. I am considering these two for an E conversion. Right now I have a Losi 8T 2.0 converted. Any thoughts on performance or durability on these two?

I know from my own experience that my RC8Te (with some upgrades) is holding up pretty darn well (no breakage so far), and the worst stuff isn't even in the clips.
But I'm reading that the Mugen should be even thougher so from were I'm standing it looks like a win-win choice :)

ps. Will you have one of the before mentioned truggy together with your 8T 2.0 or will it replace the 8T 2.0?

Honestly, I think both are great trucks. Not sure you can go wrong with either. Each has their own characteristics and I'm not sure one is better than the other.

I will still have my 8T 2.0 at the same time. I am possibly going to get rid of it if I like the new one alot better.

Mugen diff are maybe stronger than RC8 diffs, check the type of diffs spur on RC8T, helicoidal or normal, helicoidal is stronger and has a better efficiency.

Mugen, no question. I just sold my RC8T for my MBX6T and I'm so happy I did. Durability, design, performance, and weight are much better on the Mugen from what I've seen so far. My Mugen is 1/2 pound lighter than my RC8T was too with the exact same electronics and batteries.

It's helical and yes, helical gears are stronger than straight cut under most conditions. :wink:

I did build one RC8T for a friend and did not like it. Too many spacers to set the geometry. Front steering block bushings are very hard to set right. Shock mounting is strange.

Mugen is mugen so you cant go wrong.

I would add the new XRAY XT8 2009 Specs to your list, it is just plain awesome! I am buying one of them as well as an XRAY XB808 2010 Specs and converting both to brushless. I have a few projects to finish first, but then I can buy them and start the conversions!

MBX6T guys will say get Mugen, RC8T guys will say get Associated.

Most newer truggies are the sheet. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I have a 6T running only on 4s, and it is plain out beautiful. The build was super smart and the design makes sense (front steering set-up). The diffs are butter.

I have raced the 6T since last September and have not broke anything yet. Watch this weekend, I break both front a-arms, sheer a diff, etc..)

I'm not totally sure about that - I think many guys would hold to "their" brand, but some of us have had both. I have no allegiance, but definitely prefer the Mugen since getting it. My RC8T was heavy, and the design was just more complicated. Kind of over-engineered, you know? And in addition to that it wasn't as durable. I broke a few things on it after owning it for a few months.

Granted, I haven't had my Mugen for too long, but when I took it to the track I had some really hard slams and nothing broke. I'm talking nose dives into jump transitions, casing the chassis, etc. The thing was awesome as far as that goes. Plus with it being 1/2 pound lighter I can run a bigger battery if I want :whistle:

I think the Xray is sweet too - I've had a couple of those.

I am glad to hear so many good things about Mugen. It just backs up what some my local practice track guys are saying about durability. They also comment on how much better the steering is too compared to Losi. Thanks alot guys, keep the comments coming!

How much more convincing you do need ;)

Maybe an important point to take into consideration: parts, if you do not like to order online or wait long check out your LHS and see what brands they carry.

That is a really, really good point too. I unfortunately have to order everything, because of the lack of a LHS... See what brands your shop carries.
