I just won a like-new UE Lightning Chassis for $416!!!
I just can't believe it! Now, if I can just win the UE VBS I am bidding on, I will be the happiest person on the planet!!!
http://i.ebayimg.com/24/!BsilyIQEWk~...HYj-!~~_12.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/04/!BsilyjQ!2k~...K5(dw~~_12.JPG I am so friggin' excited! |
Wow, that UE stuff really commands high prices.
|
Sweet.
Is it just me, or are there no holes in the chassis for mounting a tranny?... |
Looks nice, but why is that stuff so pricey? Is it some kind of special aluminium?
|
It was cheap because it's missing the tranny mount. It was the topic over at UE.
http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...=22862&acon=39 I would not trust the seller myself. |
I know that UE stuff is the bomb, but, for that price...no way...just my opinion
|
Correct.
Lito is correct. Without the tranny mounts you cannot mount a normal 3906 Maxx tranny. Of course you do have one option, which is to mount one of MonsterMike's universal center diff mounts and run a center diff unit. Your only other options would be to find a set of tranny mounts, ask Robin if he has a set, or make your own from some aluminum plate. Best of luck.

416.00 is a deal ?
Eep, there better be a pair of willing lips attached to that thing somewhere ? It does look very nice, glad your happy w/it. I expect build pics soon ! |
Lightning chassis typically go for $700-$800, depending on condition, and this one is in excellent condition. Plus, the seller has the transmission mounts, and they are included with the chassis. He originally couldn't find them, but finally did. Besides, it didn't matter anyway, because I actually have a set (didn't even know what they were a while back), and I know where at least one more set are.

And going far beyond just the strength and durability of the 7075-T6 aluminum alloy he used, all UE parts were meticulously designed, engineered, tested, refined, and created by Robin Oury (Owner of Unlimited Engineering) to be better than any other part on the market, or to create a completely new part for the market! UE parts are not just aluminum copies of stock parts, far from it, they are completely re-engineered by Robin, making them better, stronger, lighter, more durable, and higher-performing. Robin changed the working geometry of many of his parts for higher, superior performance. He literally developed new technologies that were once deemed impossible (like his Hi-Impact technology). UE parts literally are the very best parts available for the Maxx-Series of trucks, and nothing else even comes close! Quote:

I AM very happy with it, happier than I have ever been about buying a UE part...the only thing that will make me happier is if I win the VBS I am bidding on, or whenever I finally get a VBS. Trust me, there will be a build thread for this truck, it will just have to wait until I get a VBS so I can use the parts from my current Supermaxx that the VBS replaces, as well as when I find and buy another UE Racer-X Suspension (16mm preferred, since I have another set of 8mm UE CVDs)! I know that some of you think $416 is way too much money for this chassis, and that some of you just aren't very familiar with Unlimited Engineering (Supermaxx) parts, but I am extremely pleased and happy and excited about this purchase...especially since I have been wanting a Lightning for a very long time. :yipi::intello::party::mdr::great::love: |

The Lightning chassis is designed to run the batteries either on top of the chassis or on bottom of the chassis, so it can be configured for low center-of-gravity.
|
I thought you said you already had a VBS before.
Anyway, let me see a picture of the tranny mount you have in your parts bin. I have a set of 16mm racerx but I'm not going to sell them :):). |
$$$$$$
I don't even know what Robin was selling the "Lightning" chassis for when it first came out, but considering what they have been selling for ($800-$1K) on EBay $416 is not too bad. I would have paid that much for another one, with or without tranny mounts. I hope it all works out for you.
