Ballistic 550 (4.5T) Esc option for 3s

Howdy Folks,

Just wondering what you would suggest as an esc option for the following

Slash 4x4
Ballistic 550 (4.5T)
Combination of 2s / 3s lipo

Do you have plans for a 3s capable esc that will support the 550's ?

Few folks over on the Traxxas forums seem to be having issues with the Mamba Max Pro's

I was thinking the Tekin RX8 may be an alternative

Cheers

What's wrong with the MMpro and the 4.5T motor combo?

I ran a HV6.5 on 3S with a Tekin RX8 and it worked fine.

HV4.5 on 2S is pretty fast. I would expect you to have lots of part deterioration and outright failures running the HV4.5 on 3S in a Slash 4X4, especially the center bearing.

Apparently issues people have been having are related to the internal bec on the MMP, adding an external bec seems to fix the problem

Guess time will tell if the RX8 has a better designed bec circuit

Cheers

An ext BEC fixed the servo glitching for me....I believe simplechamp sent his in and is waiting to see how his updated mmp will work in his setup....

We have changed our guidance for lipo use with the Ballistic 550 4.5 from 2S/3S to 2S only. Although, it can be used with 3S under certain conditions---as long as the motor temp is carefully monitored---we decided that the potential motor damage was not worth including the 3S option.

We updated our web info and contacted our distributors to update their product listings.

"Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should." This is our project meeting motto....
