Race for a Cure June 17th-20th
Hey guys,
The track where I race (Pin Shop Hobbies in Oakville CT, http://www.pinshophobbies.com/) is hosting a Cancer Benefit race on June 17th-20th at the Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen CT. The race should be a great time and at the same time it will help to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. To make it even better, the fairgrounds are hosting a bigger event called the Goshen Stampede (http://www.goshenstampede.com/) where there are all kinds of cool things going on with full scale trucks, farm animals, fireworks and live music. The whole event promises to be the ultimate mix of RC, helping a good cause and having a blast at a good old fashioned country fair. In an effort to help out, the track asked some of us regular racers to help spread the word. I raced with our very own RC Monster Mike this past weekend and he and Walter are likely going to be racing at this event. I sure hope we can get other Electric enthusiasts to join in and have some fun! Thanks very much! Any questions, feel free to reply and I'll be happy to help. Thats pretty cool! Contribute money to and organization and get more wrenching/pit time in return! |
I am planning on going for the sct class.
|
Tom any chance you want to come back Sunday for the "club" race too?
|
sorry dave. I go back to work on saturday so I can only do the friday race.
|
No problem, Friday should be awesome. I'm hoping to go to the Goshen site tomorrow to help with the track build.
|
so dave how many classes are you doing. think you also had a sc the last time I saw you and I know you have been running 8th scale buggy and truggy for awhile.
|
Matt wanted me to try running SC so that one day I took his out for about 3 minutes before I realized that 3 classes = a hell of a lot of work so I passed up the offer to run in SC. I'm just doing Buggy & Truggy hopefully if everything survives, both Saturday and Sunday. I hope to go down Friday night to see the SC mains.

Dave, so how was it today? Friday as you saw was a small turnout. Probably do to the early start time but still a fun day. Was great to be in the middle of the fair for everyone to see the action. Track was perfect for mod sct. Ran some 21 second laps so not a big track but good for sct. Might be a little small for truggy though.
A little different with the transition from the grass to the dirt sections but I liked it. |
Saturday was wild. We didn't have many racers but everyone who showed up was no joke. Some very fast guys. We had two heats of truggy and Electric Buggy, only one heat of Nitro buggy. Ran 4 rounds + mains. The stands were PACKED all day! Thousands of people got a chance to see us all running our cars and trucks. It was great PR for the hobby. Today, even less people. Only 3 1/5th scale baja's so it was just a demo day, more wowing of the crowd, lots of fun...one nice thing about a small turn out, everyone got amazing prizes! I walked away with two complete sets of quality buggy tires (JConcepts and Pro-Line) and some guys got a lot more!

I got an onyx 200 charger. Sold it for $10 lol.
It was pretty cool to have all the people watching as we raced. Crowd just kept getting bigger as the day went on. Paulo and Evan did a pretty good job of entertaining the crowd between rounds with the truggies. Anyways see you again the next time I make it down to pinshop. Not my usual track but I am sure I will make it down atleast once more before the season is over. |
