My 5b thread
the flash makes the silver aluminum look like black plastic, but I assure the front suspension components are aluminum. The motor is a 30.5 and the pipes are jetpro dual drag pipes

Looks like you've been having some fun with that thing! You going for the conversion, or going to keep it gas for awhile? (I can't imagine those Jetpro pipes were cheap?)

I've got about $1000 in aluminum going on it. All a-arms, knuckles, shock towers and steering will be aluminum. I picked her up used with a nomadio radio for $350. I had to do it. |

I can't imagine this baja being converted for a while. |
Is that thing heavy for you to lug around? I reckon I'd pull myself over if I tried to pick one of them from a wheel chair:lol:
I'm curious to see if the chassis holds up for you. I've heard people say that aluminium front arms don't give so it breaks the chassis if you hit something hard enough. Under the front skid is a couple of screws which form a perforated line to snap. Of course, they might be just driving like dic...I mean like me. What clutch are you running? If you don't have one get a ceramic clutch. They are expensive but they last that much longer so the cost works out abuot the same in the long run. The advantages are not having to change the clutch so often and when it does die it is much less likely to overheat the shaft and bearings. I say this because a stroked motor with pipes is going to be a lot of grunt and you will go through the clutches fairly quickly. |
looks great, i see so many of them clean and shiny with alot of aluminum, looks like you are putting it to work
i wanted to buld a brushless baja 5T this year, i was kind of waiting for mike's kit,but it doent look like it will happen an time soon |
"the flash makes the silver aluminum look like black plastic"
Liar. I know black plastic when I see it. You just armorall'd it. I'm seeing lots of 'chrome' spraypaint too. You really think you can fool us ? Looks great H, hope it's ready for your own special kind of abuse! |
Semi Pro you mean this one. All you need wait for is the ice controller :intello:

A clutch comes with the 30.5 so we'll see how she goes then I'll take your suggestion and go ceramic Quote:

These things are so easy to work on. They are black holes of money pits but I am having a blast building this thing. |
Looks great Harold. You going to get front disc brakes for it? Saw someone w/a disc kit and it was sweet

I've done most of what I'm going to do with it, I just need a few more dress up items and I'm gonna consider her done. |
I officialy named her
She was named. Her name is B.O.A.T.
I added a purple billet handle to the motor, and a purple MSD plug wire w/ MSD head. I got in my turtle racing quick change diff tranny case. Put piggybacks on the shocks. (piggybacks, or better shocks in general are crucial for 5b's and serious bashers. With that big shock shaft there is enough area displaced inside the shock that a little bladder cap is not enough. Consequently seals blow and shocks fail. The closed cell foam in the piggyback compresses to compensate for the area displaced by the shock shaft.) Some carbon fiber here. Some bling there. Pics to come. |
