strongest dog bones for savage?

My Super Heavy duty stock flux dog bones are bending all the time!!!

The SHD bones are strong but maybe not strong enough...
Anyone tried and testing something other than these ?

Do you have RPM arms, or otherwise taking big jumps? Those are quite stout, and shouldn't bend under "normal" use

Jahay 06.17.2010 08:03 PM

no i use stock arms... i havent been doing any massive jumps... and recently i have been bending them through the torque of the motor...

Savage-Flux 06.18.2010 12:37 AM

ok, RPM ARMS FTW! but! WAIT!!!!! RPM, has to use thier brain now. HPI has the sway bar kit, I WILL BUY THE RPM arms, IF they release another set with the sway bar hole in them. but, dude, definatley use the RPM arms, they flex, but are AWESOME. havent broken one for 3 years with my savage's

_dV 06.18.2010 03:12 AM

so they are twisting from the torque? if so i haven't seen that before with the SHD dogs, got any pics?

Savage-Flux 06.18.2010 03:13 AM

no, they flex when you land jumps is what i meant, sorry for the confusion.

Jahay 06.18.2010 05:01 AM

Ok the RPM arms i will look into at some point. But stocks are doing fine at the moment... Plus if they dont have a hole for the sway bars, that is a little annoying as i run them front and back.

My Dog bones bend... do you think it could be from cart doing cart wheels? I will get pics up tonight!
THANKS

ive twisted a few dogbones on my truck too. just happens some times. bent one on the front one day in a bad tumble, but not really a crash. i use the stock arms only as well as jay and like them fine

Savage-Flux 06.18.2010 04:57 PM

umm, yes, doing cartwheels would have SOME eccect on bent dog bones, then againb so can crashing into steet lights lol. oh and trees, dam trees, think theyre so big and wooddy........

Jahay 06.18.2010 06:01 PM

hmmm i must have bent them doing cartwheels then!

Figured I'd ask in this thread. I just did a little test run in the street of my Savage. I'm using the FLM XL bulk's, Savage XL HD dog bones. Made a quick turn, rolled the truck in doing so one of the dogbones popped out of the axle (at the wheel) which locked up the steering rack. My guess is the the outdrives for the diffs that came with the FLM bulk's let the bone go too far in. Just looking for suggestions, like a spring or fuel line the keep the bones pushed out enough. I think fuel line will be too small inside the outdrives. I'm sure I'll figure something out, just thought I'd post here and get some ideas.

Never mind :whip: o-rings will do the trick.

they are bending from the cartwheels. your truck is especially vulnerable to this because you have axle extenders on your truck and heavy tires as well. that is a recipe for disaster as far as bending dogbones goes.

FLM makes some big meaty ones and Hot Racing has some titanium ones but they are expensive.

These are all I use and have no problems anymore.
