Removing Hobby King HXT 4mm Connectors?
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store.../AM1009x10.jpg
Anyone have any tips for removing these without damaging them? They come on all of their larger packs and I have enough to start a small collection already if only I could properly re-use them. Thanks, .dk |
You cant really, they are designed to be assembled, but more or less impossible to disassemable ( no disassemble number 5, nooooo... ). You coudl try trimming off the wire, then pushing the connector through the housing, since it wont come out backwards, otherwise you're buggered really...

after some experimenting with removal techniques using a hammer/screwdriver and receiving some injuries, I decided the best way to reuse these will be to splice a new wire into the existing wire coming out from the connector. Don't solder too close to it when it's in the housing since the plastic will melt since the gauges are quite high (10 or 8 I think).

Too bad =( Thanks anyways guys.

If you are careful you can cut away the plastic and at least salvage the bullet connectors, that's what I've been doing.

I ended up splicing them. But putting them on a 1/10 touring car was a bad idea, way too long, makes a mess out of the wiring.
Found something else in my search for future reference: removing EC5 connectors. Nothing revolutionary though ;) .dk |
