sc10 brushless cutting out
I'm having a problem with my factory brushless sc10. It came stock with a 3300kv motor and an sc450 esc (link for reference http://67.199.85.166/main/productdet...ory=3400.escxx ) My batteries are older reedy x-rated 3300mah 6 cell matched packs. Under a high load situation, like full throttle from a dead stop with 100% traction it will cutout twice every time before it finally takes off. With any tire spin it takes off fine. Hot or just turned on, it does the same thing. The esc is set on the hardest hitting throttle profile. Any help would be appreciated

Buy some better packs, or go Lipos....

With my luck i'll have to upgrade the batteries, but would soldering on tamiya connectors completely kill me for amperage? The truck was shipped to me a few days ago and I didn't have any deans connectors to solder to the batteries and charger, but did have a spare tamiya for the esc.. The connectors definitely do not like coming back apart after a hard run

skip the tamiya connectors, with bad connectors and high powered batteries you will start melting them. try a lower resistance connector like Deans, traxxas, or losi ec3's

Who runs Tamiya plugs anymore?

Me, in my tamiya TL01 with mechanical speed "controller" , and my RS-540 Mabushi Johnson Brushed motor (without bearing):lol:
The whole thing is geared for ~13mph  |
as I said, it was temporary. Being 200 miles from home and almost that far from a hobby shop, I used what I had on hand. I hard wired a pack today and it fixed the issue. I'll leave stick packs and tamiya connectors to the radio shack toys from here out. When I get back home i'm rebuilding these packs into side by sides with quality parts and deans connectors. On another note, what is a good source for loose nimh cells and pack building supplies? I have a decent nimh charger and not near enough $ to switch to lipo. Looking to build two additional 7 cell side by side packs

looking at connectors (bored) on all electronics, tamiya connectors are rated at 15 amps

wow, some nice lipo prices. The only things I was pulling up that cheap were ebay packs from hong kong.. Thanks

My cells are only rated at 99 amps (30c 3300mah), lowish huh?

I was going to rebuild those cells as side by side packs, but i'm likely buying some 32 40c 3000mah lipos from hobby king. If anything i'll combine 8-9 cells into one pack, because after a 3s a 6 cell nimh is probably pretty boring

The problem still persists. Sent an e-mail to ae, but am wondering if you guys had any ideas. I've checked connections, drivetrain binding, transmitter batteries, everything. I also rebuilt my stick packs into side by sides with deans connectors. It still hesitates and locks up the tires (not enough amps wouldn't cause it to lock the tires up right?) under high traction hard acceleration. It also causes a quick loss in control of steering or braking. Any help would be appreciated
Could my (99 amp rated) cells just be dead? They are a few years old |
