Overheated MMM

Hey guys,

So today I took my buggy out for a little spin around the park, everything seemed to be going fine although I thought I noticed a slight reduction in overall power, but it could have been my imagination.

After 10 minutes of running I pull in to take some temps, everything was fine except for my MMM, which to my horror was at 180F, and the fan wasn't spinning! I immediately turned everything off to let it cool. The MMM was 180F at the casing, and nearing 200F at the bullets. Suffice to say I didn't run it anymore.

When I got back home, I noticed the fan did not spin at startup, so I took it apart and saw the fan wires were worn, probably causing the fan to fail.

I've since bought a replacement fan, and all seems well. My question is, since it got so hot, have I done any damage? I can't help thinking I might have reduced it's power output somewhat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys

You have a thermal protection on the Mamba Monster, in case of the fan would be locked by dirt or something else, so if you did not reach the thermal limit. All should be fine in your black box

200° F is definitely too hot to be running at, but it shouldn't have damaged anything. Our general rule of thumb is to keep it below 170° F; but anything below 200° F is not going to damage anything. When you start running above ~215° F is when we start to worry, so unless you saw the magic smoke or there's an abnormal smell coming from the controller, you should be just fine.
