MMM fault
 

Hi Folks ,

Jumped my monster the other day and after a few jumps the speed seemed to be slow...and it stuttered if i held full throttle from stationary.
Assumed it was a batteryprob but new ones were the same.
took it home and looked at it then the ESC wouldnt power the motor or beep at all.
Seems to arm ok according to the LEDs and ive tried re calibrating it and the TX to the Rx..steering works fine and ive tried a diff motor..ESC faulty ?

Possible bad connection somewhere- check the battery and motor leads/ connectors for a broken joint. Could be something internal thats damaged though- does the motor chime like it used to before the issue started, or do you just get lights/ dodgey chime?

Do you have an padding under the esc/ how is it held down?

thanks for the reply...ESC is glued/cable tied to chassis.
motor does not chime at all...just the lights on the esc show...they seem to
be acting normal (they show the arming is complete and respond to Tx throttle)
...the other motor i plugged in was also silent...could it be the internal connection to the motor outputs?

The motor connections are female bullets soldered to the pcb, doubt they've come loose but its easy to check- more likely something internally.

Check the esc settings on the castlelink in case the settings have been affected- sometimes they can randomly reset upon a heavy impact.

Best way to secure the esc to the chassis is with some double-sided sticky foam & the ziptie or traxxas hold-down mount, helps absorb a bit of the impact better.

thanks fella..ive posted it back to horizon as they are happy to deal with me directly...i used shoe goo to secure it which dries like rubber so it was cushioned ..might make a platform that sits higher up on the chassis for it
when its back..keep it out of the way if i do any crawling through water...they dont need a metal base do they ? Can you tell me more about the traxxas hold down mount ? ive not found anything that fits that description

No need for a metal base, though I'd water really if I were you, stick to a brushed setup & plastidip the esc ( MMM is water resistant, but too $$$ for my liking to get it wet ).

i had these same issues after doing some hard bashing. my conclusion was the shock of the landing was causing the esc cases to flex into the boards causing a break in some of the internals. i went through 3-4 escs that way.

my solution was to make an esc mount that was fixed to the chassis that also had a ledge that didn't touch it either. that way, if i had a hard landing, it could flex several inches and never touch anything that was taking the shock of the landing.

you can make one for about 5 dollars out of anything that is rigid. i used aluminum.

here's my quick drawing of it....it seems to work extremely well as there have been no more esc issues at all.

hey thats cool thanks...spoke to Horizon today..its a genuine fault but they have no stock to exchange it ! im gonna mail castle in the usa and hope they can help
