Heatsinking RSPRO
I got me a used RSPRO to run in a 1/8 buggy. I don't want to run a fan, so I opt for a heatsink.
The first pic shows the lowest heatsink profile setup and covers all the fets. Second pics shows a cylindrical gangster heatsink. Would be easier to put on, but will increase the overall esc size. Copper will be used to cover the fets and some thermal 3M tape to the round heatsink. I also have some 1 Farad 5.5V caps. Would be good for 1s setups or put two in series and will be good for 2s setups. Or 8 in series/parallel and be dumb. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0421.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0422.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0416.jpg |
take a cpu heatsink, like the old ones for 486 cpu. I had those on my modiefied plane esc. I would not take the round stuff, it has to cover alle fets.

The fets would be covered with copper and then the round heatsink attached to that.

any update?

Here's the update.
Finally finished it after some dremeling and filing. Added two 25V 470uF caps as well. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0477.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0475.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0473.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0472.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...o/DSCF0468.jpg |
I put the RSpro in the CRT.5 instead, pushing that 2500kv LRP motor. Used a dimension engineering BEC and Luciano 25V cap bank. Using Throttle Profile 3 and like it alot. Temps on both the copper post and heatsink were the same @ 104F after one battery pack. Brakes are typical Tekin and just the best. Pinion used is 15T. I used some more Thermal foam tape between the heatsink and metal plate. Used a wire to keep the ESC in place during impakt. Now I just have to make the wires look pretty.
