Eloggers V3 maximum spike amps?

I'm interested in purchasing a Eagle Tree Elogger V3 150A model but I need to know what the maximum spike amps the logger can record. I estimate that my 5s Jammin CRT X1 setup will pull no more than 162A (1518 1Y 1800kV motor rated at 3,000W peak power and 18.5V under load). The Elogger is only rated to 150A, but I'm unsure if this is maximum continuous or maximum peak current rating.

I also looked into the Eagle tree RC car data recorder, however you have to purchase the current sensor seperatly and the 300A sensor is $129 :surprised: . Plus I can get two temp sensors and a brushless RPM sensor all for $118...way less than the car data recorder.

If anyone has experience with this logger on a 1/8th scale truggy I'd love to know your findings.

At anything beyond 150A, the output becomes more and more nonlinear. So, yes, it does measure over 150A, but the current above that is likely higher than the measured value.

thanks brian. sounds like I will have to get the 300A sensor and the RC car data logger if I want to get the most out of my setup.

Talking about current, what is the max burst current that the mamba monster can withstand? searching for the info is difficult and castle only give the 120A continuous rating.

Probably into the mid/high hundreds of amps (maybe even 1000 if very short duration). Really, it's limited by the battery, copper, duration of the burst, etc. As you can imagine, there are too many variables for CC to list and still have any meaning to the user.

THe burst does'nt depend a lot of the motor, it depends of the setup. If your truggy is geared for 30 mph the spikes will be very low, but if you gear it for 80mph, it's an other story...

true. Higher loads will demands more inrush current. I've purchased the eagle tree system so I can get the most out of my setup for given track conditions. my batteries aren't really a limit to my setup as I have purchased some thunder power 5s 45C 5000mAh Lipo's that are capable of 450A bursts and 225A continuous.

My setup is going to be geared for 40Mph. After puffing some Lipos in the past from a setup that demanded too much current from my batteries combined with high ambient temps (+30 degrees celcius) I want to monitor want is happening, so I can gear the truggy to a safe level.

Even that 225A is a little unrealistic for thoses lipos, unless you have 6AWG wires, I doubt you risk anything geared for 40mph on 5S with the 1518/1Y.

My Eagle Tree 100A measured regular spikes in the 110-130A range with the Savage Flux without issue.

Handy little unit to have, just found out a Titan 550 in a TL01 Tamiya can draw 60A and push a 3200mah 25C Lipo, fully charged, to under 3v/cell under load.
