Well here is the new Flux XL
Well its not new....ran a couple times. It has 1offrc XL chassis, 7955tg, xl axles. Charging some lipos now.

Well its been fun. he dogs have enjoyed chasing it around the back yard. It does feel quite a bit more "toy-like" then my Losi Lst XXL. I also feel that the size needs more motor then the 2200kv. I have know idea how people run that motor in the 5t conversion. All in all its a decent runner and I am happy.
I did break a steering knuckle in the rear by just doing a wheelie in the grass and pulling the rear in a weird angle. Kinda shocking actually. I just flipped the rears around for the time being. If anyone has a suggestion on the best aluminum hubs to get. Not really a huge fan of the HPI purplebut I am kinda interested in the suspension upgrade they have. Worth the money?? I think its time to fix the LST....plus it has the Castle 1520 in it. I miss that motor. Wish I could fit it in the Flux. |
Mmms... can't imagine why it'd be anymore "toy-like" than an XXL. I've been running the stock suspension pieces in my XLs (nitro, electric, 5T) over the last year or two and havent broken one of those in all the flips, nose plants, etc. Only non-stock suspension part was the rear hub carries from Integy that I've started running on all 3 of mine (or while when I refinish the nitro version), mainly because of the 5T. There was way too much side to side movement in the rear end that really showed up in the 5T conversion.
2200kv runs fine the 5T, not sure why you thought it wouldn't. With 6S on the 2200kv the Flux is pretty insane as it is. The mass of the 5T actually calms it a bit; I am running mine now on 5S with the 2200kv... not interested in doing back flips with it, nor doing 60+ mph either... if I wanted either of those I'd build a machine for that. Sure going to a smaller Kv motor will be more efficient and lower engine temps which is good. Go to XL TVPs (FLM and HPI have them, maybe even 1offrc)... that'll have room to run a longer can. ALthough I've measured and with my 5T, which has the same measurements in the rear as the standard Flux, I can jam in a 1520 so not sure why you wouldn't be able to... There is about 15mm between the rear of the motor and the bulkhead. |
The break was very fluke like. These large wheels put alot of stress on this rig.
I do have the XL 1offrc plates. Is there a bolt on mount to get the larger motor in there?? I would love to get the 1520 shoehorned in there. I also thought the db17 had more motor mounting options but I was just on the site and I did not see any mention of it as far as a optional mount. I would also like the option of using my 6s lips in a single pack in the center of the rig. |
Patience - Check out FLM soon...
|
Not that I am aware of... guess Arct1k is hinting concerning FLM, but patience is key there, lots of it.
Best you can do is grind out the existing mounts to accept the larger engine diameter. One of the reasons I've decided to for now just beat the heck out of the Flux motor until something comes out. Quote:
Go 5T and you can fit the batteries in no problem. ;) Think you can do it with the DB17 too. Quote:

Hmmm thats interesting Arct1k. I haven't seen another XL length chassis that allows for large batteries to be mounted low and between the TVPs besides mine. They coulda done it 6 months go and saved me the trouble :mdr:
I'm sure i've seen a 6s pack in the FLM forward tranny somewhere before but i think it was a smaller pack and the guy had used a larger pinion and or larger spur to move the motor over to make room. Can't remember where that was atm. Coincidently i received the 6s pack (30C 5000mAh) today for the regearing i'm doing. It's a serious house brick but still fits with room to spare. http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/...h_IMG_0514.jpg |
i mount my 6s lipo in my db-17 chassis along with my neu 1520 motor just fine... LOADS OF SPACE
|
Jamie had a prototype chassis at the RC-Monster bash that needed some extra tweaks to be final.
It is being designed to have a forward mounted motor, take a 1717 to 1520 motor, support a 6S pack within the Chassis and have a bolt on roll cage... |
sounds good... first time i have heard of this...
|
I will be looking forward to the FLM kit.
So I broke a pin in one of the axles where the hex is....are these the replacements?? http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Pin-Silver-10 Also just out of curiosity will this screw kit replace all the phillips head screws with allen drivers?? I want to make sure to get rid of ALL the wood screws. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...x-HP-Screw-Kit So Jahay did you make a custom mount for you db-17 kit?? |
Yes those are the pins.
|
Thanks
|
I have that screw kit and it doesn't replace all the screws. Screws that have long blank shafts before the thread starts were not included in my kit. Like the screws that hold the steering rack bar to the steering uprights (z282) and the screws that secure the c hub to the top suspension arm (z286) and also z288

Ya I noticed it was same thing with the Xray screw Kits. This seems to be common.
