Finally giving 6s lipo a try!

Allright, I figured that I waited long enough and with the RC season wrapping up.I decided I really wanted to find out what 6S feels like on a Flux after thinking about doing it since owning my first Flux last year

I had some credit money at HK and I didn't wanna waste it so I figured it was now or never to get a great deal on some 3s lipos and see if its worth it. Plus, I want to see if FB2 works better with 3s lipos vs struggling on 2s lipo with heat issues. I managed to snag these bad boys and hopefully they will be here by the end of the week.

Needless to say, i'll have a vid of my running of my first drive with 6s powa, should be interesting!

looks good.

Looks good. Finally battery prices are getting within reason, but how well will they hold up is the question? From what I have been reading its a crap shoot on whether you get a good pack or a bad one. Once you receive the packs it is hard to justify shipping them back if there is a problem. With prices like what Maxxcramps charges what choice do we have? I just cannot justify spending $150 on one battery regardless of their claims. For an E-Maxx truck thats $300 just for one setup. Thats just stupid if you ask me, or more so just greedy on their part. I feel like the basic 300% mark up that the USA uses is pretty greedy in general.

Anyway good luck with your purchase and have fun playing with your toy.

I won't feel so depressed if for some reason $100 worth of turnigy 3s lipos don't work out vs the ass rapeage of $300+ that Maxcraps woulda cost me.

My first batch of turnigy 5000 2s lipos were puffed outa the box but apparently ALOT of peeps have had that issue with that model. My hardcases 5200mah 2s turnigys are holding up well so i'll give these new nano tech ones a shot. Only way to find out for sure is to try em and see how both they and my Flux hold up to 25 volts.

You will be happy but for the love of God please remember to re-gear for 6s.

Holy crap! 6000's how long you plannin on runnin this thing? Temps were fine on 4s, my guess is they will be higher on 6s due to extra wheelspin but go for it. As long as you stay under 175 you will be fine. Get ready for that thing to move with authority.

Well if the theory is correct, I shouldn't see much change in temps due to the higher voltage being able to move the truck easier vs on 2s. And Maxcraps makes 9000mah so 6000 isn't that much

Yes but don't forget you will be makin more power at the same time. Run 4 and 6s in my racing setup and 6s is always a little warmer. My thoughts are the power surges are much higher but like I said it's not much hotter. If you can keep the wheels from spinning You shouldn't notice much of a difference. Especially if your geared for the same speed as on 4s. Only one way to find out for sure! May I sugest having someone else film this time, will be harder focus with a $!&@eating grin on your face with 6s whippin that thing around like a rag doll.

6s is always fun to watch. I only did it once on my E-Revo, simply a one word expression...

Wow!

Freezebyte 10.05.2010 06:41 PM

Be interesting to find out if RCM's pinion will last under 6s power, its already getting kinda worn.

Freezebyte 10.09.2010 04:42 PM

WOW, the amount of power this thing is putting out is flat out insane! :oh: Despite my gorilla taped tires, they still balloon like crazy with 6s! I nearly smoked the slipper clutch pad right off the bat as I didn't have it cranked down all the way and it was making a gawd awful noise and it smelt bad.

Luckily, I caught and fixed it before I think I ruined the pad as now it wheelies with just a slight flick of the throttle now. This damn thing will now do backflips no questions asked, even with the XL conversion. I noticed checking the temps that the motor is running pretty cool but the ESC fan is kicking on pretty early though it might have something to do with 0% punch control and full throttle starts on the concrete.

I'll need to do some more testing in actual dirt and grass later today after I top off the Lipos and see how the temps are under an actual load.

WTF would you be driving with a 12 cell? 6s is borderline uncontrollable with this thing. I wouldn't wanna pay for a 12 cell either

lst xxl with a 36-80-1100 medusa:yipi:

there is a guy in here with a 14cell savage

Freezebyte 10.09.2010 08:15 PM

Hmmm, well after another run with some speed runs, jumps, backflips and standing backflips, this is almost too much damn power. The motor is staying in the 110 degree range but the ESC fan is on all the time but it doesn't feel that hot and i'm only getting readings of 120 degree are so around the vents.

I'm gonna engage 40% punch control and see how it behaves handling and heat wise.
