Hobby City Invoice
My friend recently ordered some stuff from Hobbycity and I noticed that they included an odd looking invoice in the package. They probably give this to everyone, but I've never heard it mentioned before. Apparently Hobby King gets their stuff ridiculously cheap, if I understand this invoice correctly? I don't have a scanner here, so I'll try to type it up briefly. My friend paid over $160 for all this stuff and the Invoice Total says $35.66 plus $14.76 shipping.

I've seen this before.
I always thought the purpose of this was to give people a big break on import duties. Especially other countries. In some countries, they charge an additional percentage of the total value. It can get quite expensive. |
It's an old shipping trick to write down the value of goods so as to avoid import duties and/or taxes if the box is opened...
You actually nominate the % of value during the sales process when ordering |
yeah, I'm sure they get the stuff cheap, but not that cheap.
Mine are always ridiculously low like that. I'm sure it's to get around duties and stuff. (same reason they mark everything as a gift, even claimed it was my birthday once, haha, and that they were my uncle.... :D) |
Did any of those lipos come puffed? Nice Tx selection, that's the radio I use.

invoice for customs to leave the package alone :)

Hey that's brilliant! Very thoughtful of them lol. And no, the lipos seem to be just fine. Unfortunately they stocked the same ones in the USA warehouse a week after he ordered lol. And yeah both of us use that radio! It's great! And I use it for my boat, which is why I had him order the extra Rx.
Thanks for the replies. Good to know about that stuff. Brijar!!! |
I had a HobbyCity package one time that said right on the outer label "Happy 15th Birthday Jason!" and I think the lady at the post office was a bit suspect since I'm 25, LOL. I assumed they did it for the customs issues also, declared as a gift.

I always leave the value at 100% if the total is under AUD$1,000 since that is the threshold limit in Australia and beyond that you start to pay duties. Other countries will differ. Quote:
