:surprised:

thats insanely cool! But i think i would get tired of hearing that whining sound all the time, its pretty loud! Also is it just me, or does the guy that built the car remind you of Austin Powers?

TC5racer 11.03.2010 10:47 PM

That is awesome but like 9mile said the whining is horrible

suicideneil 11.04.2010 01:49 PM

It is rather loud- I think its still very much at the prototype/ one-off stage, so lacking soundproofing + they're having issues with the motors regards torque control etc. Still, epic

I dig it!

Call me weird, but I kinda like the sound. Since it is tied to the power being "put down" as he accelerates I think it is cool. I could get used to it if I had one. Kinda reminds me of the high pitch sound of a Formula 1 car or a motor cycle where the engines rev at very high rpms. Yes sounds quite good to me, very quiet family ride for hauling the kids and the mrs, and one of these to take me to work at 170 mph....OK so maybe not that fast, but sure would kick ass stop light to stop light.

magman 11.04.2010 09:12 PM

Impressive to say the least. If indeed that is still in test phase with no sound proofing to quiet it down that is not to bad at all.

redshift 11.04.2010 09:39 PM

It would have been better if they showed the car actually doing 170

Kcaz25 11.04.2010 10:14 PM

Yeah very few shots of the car at all. Its great though.

snellemin 11.05.2010 09:32 AM

Most annoying sound. I would kill myself driving it with that noise.

Erevocanuck 11.05.2010 03:55 PM

After watching that I looked up Dale Vince and found his website and a whole bunch of videos on the development of this car

The car in the video(youtube one in this thread) is pretty much prototype and is probably has no sound deadening material.

snellemin 11.05.2010 04:00 PM

Sound deadening material adds weight. Won't be a problem with all that power though.

redshift 11.05.2010 04:03 PM

I was thinking noise cancellation would be the ticket, just a few speakers and a small amp would do it.

Bondonutz 11.05.2010 04:34 PM

I dont think it's as loud as we all think, they were talking nomally and could hear each other with zero difficulty, Me thinks it was the very sensitive microhones the camera crew were useing.
The noise I'd could live with myself, especially with some old Metallica blasting away in the background. IE "Battery"

redshift 11.05.2010 04:58 PM

^ Noise coverup-ation is a good option as well.....

I agree, the microphones could have picked up an unfair amount of sound

I noticed he had a faster then the wind link on his site...if you want a good 'discussion' lets start on the idea of 'free power'

Maybe Brandon could slap a MA sticker on a faster than the wind device
